What happened to D'nika Romero from A&M

A buddy of mine just asked about her and I don't have a clue. Does anybody have one?

dont remember a Romero last year... may have been two years ago though. I didnt follow the girls as closely then, so I really couldnt tell you.

She would have been a senior, but she wasn't on last year's roster. I was pretty curious about her at the beginning of last year because she some good games the year before, but I never found any info.

I found one reference to her "leaving the team for personal reasons..." on aggiesports.com in a google or yahoo search but the article is no longer on there. Oddly enough, you can find her in game stats as late as January 2004, she's in the small pics on top of the Aggie women's b-ball page, but no longer shows up on the 2003-4 roster.

The question came up because a friend of mine found some photos of her in a magazine that were rather racy (she looks really good by the way), the referenced her at A&M, he of course asks me about because he knows I went there. It just seems wierd to have someone's name scrubbed of the roster and no mention of why.

Romero played on February 18, 2004 against Kansas State, and that appears to be her last game as an Aggie. Her stat line from that game was 3 minutes played, no other stats. She'd been seeing her minutes diminish after early January, for reasons unknown to me.

After 2/18, it's like D'nika just fell off the map. I've searched pretty hard, and can't find any official statement about her leaving the team.

I'd probably find something sooner or later, but for now it totally eludes me.

No real need to go there, this is all it says. They have not wiped her name from the results, though.

If you Google "dnika romero" you get a whole different set of results that don't even mention b-ball. It turns out she won a competition in BlackMen's magazine and there are links to photos at indmix.com. I'm at work and not willing to try the link.

I'm now curious to see how this turns out. The fact the effort was taken to remove her from the rosters and bio page is interesting.

Think you've hit it there, BryanL. It looks like she is a bit outside the realm of basketball at the moment. I found enough to figure that out.

This is just my opinion, but judging from some of the sites she comes up on, she's making a boatload of money the old fashioned way. To bad. It looked like she was having a promissing career.
