Big congrats to :ksu: and :cu: on their wins today over :ut: and :ou: .
I am so tired of the northern division getting no love and the south getting everything (I'm not just talking about football either) Way to represent for the North Baby!!!!

Congrats K-State and Colorado!
But the South doesn't have everything...They don't have Volleyball. :)

You are definitely right about :NU: volleyball, Chipper.
I was at a sports bar for the 2nd half. Couldn't stand it alone. Was so much fun when the field goal went through the goal posts as time ran out. Buffs win!:CU: Yes, it's only one game, but it's a start to a hopefully fine coaching career at CU for Coach Hawkins. Guess they will have to be flying in Cody's girlfriend from Boise. She's been at the CSU and now OU games. If she's the good luck charm, guess dad will have to ante up for some air fare. ;)
And congrats to :KSU: for a job well done.
The North did well yesterday.

and in case you didn't know........
life in Norman ceased at about 3 pm Saturday. What the heck was that?
It was a great game, would have been better to have been a Colorado fan than being on the other side :(

I figured life in Norman ceased when that field goal went through the goal posts. Jubilation set in here in Boulder and I think the fans are still there. I'm sure Coach Hawk has brought the team back to earth. There's another game on Saturday for them. We can just celebrate.

Now this is fun...The Big 12 is up for grabs!!!!!!
Its not surprising that the South gets more notice. The south is where the Big 12 major media center is...Dallas is the conference's media epicenter, so of course the south division will tend to get more notice.
The North is making it way back through the coaches. Ron Prince is making K State a force. Hawkins is revitalizing Colorado. Mangino's making football relevant again in Lawrence. Pinkel at Mizzou is better than a lot of people think...I see Chizik doing some good things in Ames.
"You are definitely right about volleyball, Chipper.
Its not just Nebraska..the Big 8 was a solid league...and the North division in the Big 12 is a contending group as a whole. Missouri's program has taken a step up. Colorado's always been good. Kansas State is yearly top 25 team...and Christy Johnson's quickly turning Iowa State into "Nebraska II", even Kansas is getting in the act and improving.
The method has been following the way Nebraska built a national power..
Develop the structures to develop the talent in house and then win with it. The volleyball talent in the midwest is in abundance, it just needs the next-level development. That is occuring. More high-level players are being developed and a wider range of schools are getting the kids.
Condolences to Texas but I confess I enjoyed the game a LOT! Jordy Nelson is a young man that has been highly regarded off the field as well as on, from his high school days at Riley County forward. It was doubly sweet to see him have such a good game. (And I am looking forward to cheering for his sister Kelsey in basketball)
Trouble is, KU is coming to town this weekend after a bye and that game is not a gimmie. They beat Kansas State the week after the Wildcats defeated the Longhorns last year. The Jayhawks can take care of that #24 ranking real quick.
KSU's volleyball coach, Suzi Fritz, is a Clay Center native (daughter of our former high school football coach). It is always good to see her have success.
GO BIG 12!

When was the last time that the Jayhawks found themselves in this undefeated position at this point in the season?

Jayhawks last went 5-0 in 1995(we won the Aloha bowl), we also went to the Final Four and the College World Series that year(first University to do that btw!). Kansas has had a football team in the past(ya your Huskers we did have a problem beating for about 40 years.....lol) we were never a power but don't think for a minute we were as bad in the past as some teams in the North;). Bad adminstration choices and a BAD coach in Terry Allen set us back a ton but MM has been fighting his way through(last 3 seasons have been close to breakouts but had no offensive coordinator!) and finally getting a 32 million dollar practice facility and a good team on the field. I just pray this ball keeps rolling!
ROCK CHALK!
Congratulations Waylontheman (and all :KU: fans). Your team is hot and played well.
I understand your feelings about Coach Allen. I confess I always liked him but I suppose he was easier to like for me than for died-in-the-wool Jayhawks. He seemed like a decent man with a lot of character and in that sense he represented KU well. Unfortunately his coaching results were not good and he clearly had to go.

Allen must be a popular last name in Jayhawk athletics. Phog Allen, Terry Allen, etc.

Phog Allen and Terry Allen are in NO WAY similar other than the last name......one built a power-one shut off the power;)
