I stole the phrase "reunion week" from someone on the ISU board because it applies so well...
Former ISU MBB assistant Steve Barnes, who had been the coach at San Jose State for 3 years, was named the newest ISU MBB assistant yesterday. He was an assistant at ISU for Eustachy's first year, has been an assistant under Larry at all three of Larry's college head coaching jobs, and the two were high school and college teammates.
Jodi Steyer, an assistant under Coach Fennelly at Toledo for six years, was named the newest assistant WBB coach at ISU. She replaces Kelly Kebe, who is now the head coach at Akron. While at Toledo, she coached current ISU assistant Latoja Harris.
Steyer remained an assistant at Toledo for one year after Fennelly left for ISU, and then she quit coaching to start a family. She has lived with her husband and two children in Ames for 4 years, helping out with WBB camps and such.
To tie in one more name...
When Steyer resigned from her job at Toledo, she was replaced by a Toledo assistant MBB coach looking to switch to WBB. He became interested in coaching women when he became good friends with Fennelly. That man was Dan Hughes, current coach of the Cleveland Rockers.
