The last time Sheryl Swoopes stepped on the court for the Houston Comets was on May 29 against the San Antonio Silver Stars. A few days later she was evaluated by the medical staff and diagnosed with a bulging disc in her lower back. The recovery was initially estimated at two to four weeks, but it's been over five weeks and Swoopes is still forced to watch the Comets play from the sidelines in street clothes.

The six-time All-Star and four-time WNBA champion talked with WNBA.com's Brian Martin prior to the Comets matchup with the Seattle Storm on July 6 to discuss her rehab, the state of the Comets and when fans can expect to see her back in uniform for the Comets.

Q. How is the back feeling? How is the rehab coming along?
SWOOPES: "My back feels great. You know rehab is rehab; it’s definitely not something that’s fun. I don’t really think my back is the problem anymore. It’s just trying to get my leg built back up and get the strength back in it and then hopefully I’ll be able to play. I definitely have to take it one day at a time
