This year's matchup of Duke and Texas which was scheduled to be played in Austin has been canceled.

According to the Charlotte News-Observer, it was canceled at Gail Goestenkors' request, but I'd wait before assuming that a story from the land of the abandoned was fact set in stone.

Anyone want to post a story on CU's $100,000 fine from the NCAA for training table violations involving walkons? It's out there...

Was Duke vs. Texas a yearly non-conference game?

(If so, then I'd like to know the answer to this question--otherwise I'll post a new topic about it...) What other teams have a certain non-conference opponent every year in the Big XII? I know that Nebraska always plays against Creighton in the non-conference, but what others are like this?

Iowa State always plays the other three DIV I schools in Iowa: Iowa, UNI, and Drake

UNM usually plays B12 schools every year. OU used to have the Bertha Teague Classic where OSU, OU, TU and ORU would play each other minus an OU/OSU matchup since they already play twice in a year.

I know we used to play SMU and TCU a lot, b/c I'd attend them when they were down here.

I hope OU continues with Tulsa, even though the Bertha Teague will be no longer. OU seems to be in transition with it's scheduling, upgrading I hope,
so we are seeing some new opponents.

Someone posted an article on another site about New Mexico and the Big XII:

He confirmed the Lobos will not play Texas, Texas Tech, Arizona State or Oklahoma, all nationally-ranked teams UNM had played in the past.

"I think we are replacing a top-quality team in Oklahoma with another top-quality team in Stanford," Flanagan said. "I'm happy with the level of talent we're facing."

Flanagan said while the Lobos are taking a good break from the Sooners and Sun Devils, he would like to see the Longhorns and Red Raiders again soon.
