Whitney Hand

Whitney has be moved up from a 1 star ranking at Hoopgurlz to a 4 star ranking. She is #47 overall and #16 of the guards.

This is excellent. She is playing for a team called Essence which has April Sykes, a very highly rated player. This should help her improve her game this summer.

HoopGurlz hadn't rated Whitney Hand prior to her 4-star rating. If they put a player on the database but haven't had the opportunity to evaluate her skills, they automatically assign a 1-star rating.

Once they saw her, the were impressed and put her in the top 50. I'm not surprised. When I first heard her name as a potential OU recruit, I extensively researched her on the internet, was pleasantly surprised at how uniformly well praised she was. She was all-state in Texas this year in three different sports, including first team in basketball and volleyball.

And she won a national high school Christian school player of the year award, too. And she was named academic all-state in basketball and volleyball. I'm not sure if the academic awards for track have been announced yet.

I had figured that if she was district co-POY along with senior Rachel Rentschler, who's already signed with Texas, then she must be pretty good.
