Went to http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/ou.gif Women's basketball banquet tonight. Not a dry eye in the house by the time it was over. Things that stuck in my mind:

The banquet was in the practice facility (floor was covered), and it was full. A lot more people there than were at the games Sherri's first year.

Team grade-point for fall semester was 3.48.

Highlight film was 90% steals and fast break layups - sure were a lot of them. Loudest applause was for Caton Hill driving to the basket and making a layup through (and I use that word correctly) Stacy Stephens, and Dionnah Jackson picking the ball up off the floor under the basket and making a layup OVER Cisti Greenwalt.

Stacey Dales looks REALLY tall in a long skirt. All these girls dress up well.

Candid pictures of the team on the road off the court show how much they like each other and how good the chemistry is.

Sherri said nothing about incoming players, but things she said about returning players, particularly Theresa Schuknecht and Antoinette Wadsworth, led me to believe she isn't planning on any fourth place finish in the conference.

Best line of the night was when Bo was congratulated by the MC for "choosing to remain at an institution of higher learning".

I think one of the coolest things was that they gave the MVP trophy to ALL 6 seniors, Jennifer Cunningham included.
Most improved went to Dionnah Jackson; after that....the usual suspects......rebounds, Caton Hill; defense, Laneisha Caufield; and Stacey Dales, assists.

I didn't know you got a trophy for NCAA 2nd place.

Seems every year the banquet pretty well doubles....think I heard 450 last night......last year had to be 300, the year prior
(ok, that memory things hitting me)......150.....???? The numbers have led us to buffet bbq rather than a really, really nice dinner....guess that happens with a programs growth.

sw, they do get a trophy for runner up; didn't they present that to OU at San Antonio?

They didn't present the trophy on the basketball court after the game. Sherri stayed on the court to congratulate all UCONN coaches and then hugged each of the UCONN players. But then all Sooners left the court for the locker and media rooms.
