The hint of a move to Vandy has Kansas legislators urging Patterson to stay. All purple, no blue. Any indication she is seriously thinking about leaving?

It's amazing what one good season will do for a coaches worth and status. It just seems like this time last year we were all wondering the fate of Patterson's job. Now, one year later, she's considered for high-profile openings and the govenor is asking her to stay.

Neither Vandy nor Coach Patterson are talking. As of a couple of days ago our AD had not been contacted by Vandy, which he thinks would happen before serious discussions took place, but as he put it, you never know. For her part Coach Patterson only says that she is proud to call herself coach of The KSU Wildcats and that she loves it at KSU. She will not comment on anything in regards to Vandy including if she has been contacted or if she has any interest. It sounds to me that she wants to keep her options open.

She is on a year to year contract by her choice. The university has offered long term contracts but she has always refused so that is nothing new. I know that she and the staff really are happy with the support they get from KSU and the community.

Kansas State University President Wefald attends almost all games as does the AD and even football Coach Snyder attends games. In addition the president personally will make phone calls to recruits etc. With the exception of the office space the women's program gets (nice but offsite from Bramlege) and maybe a few other minor things I think the KSU administration supports WBB very well. KSU even gave the coaches bonuses after the season that were NOT required in their contracts.

My take is that Vandy may or may not have an interest in Coach Patterson but if they do, she may at least consider it because its "Vandy" and both Patterson and Etheridge have been assistant Vandy coaches.

Fans that I know will be surprised but not shocked if she gets an offer and takes it. We will be seriously bummed if she and Etheridge both leave. Most of the fans I know consider coach Etheridge to be the best choice to replace Patterson if she does leave. I somewhat doubt she will be offered the job and I hope if she does get an offer she decides to stay at KSU.

The good thing is that there is really only one recruit out there that this may be affecting. The team says they just don't want to think about it. I hope this gets resolved before too long.

wow, that's pretty impressive for the govenor and the state's politicians to have done that, how cool....

I may be mistaken, but I don't think so........it took a final four trip for the OK gov to show his face at a women's bb game, though his wife has been to games at the LNC.

The governor of Iowa (Tom Vilsack) and his wife have made several appearances at Iowa State women's basketball games (I think during tournament time). Of course, at the girls' state high school basketball tournament, not only does the governor show up but BOTH Iowa senators as well. And when they're interviewed on radio during the tournament games, they make very well-informed comments about the games and the players. In short, women's basketball is BIG in Iowa, in case anyone had any doubts.

Governor Ann Richards was a regular during her tenure in the statehouse. She and her granddaughter Lily sat floor level near the team. I remember someone telling me that George Bush attended a game or two when he was governor, but I never saw him.

Don't know about George Bush at UT women's games but I did see him award the AAAAA girls high school basketball state champs and runner-ups their medals at the State competition when he was govenor. He showed up in his jogging gear to do it while all the AAU folks were wearing suits, ties or dresses and heels...

I've got to admit I was quite impressed when I saw Snyder at all the KSU women's games at the Big XII tournament in Kansas City. With his reputation for thinking only football 24/7/365, that was pretty neat.
