Interesting...had her name ever come up in our discussions? Never heard of her.
I hope like hell she sets the Big 12 on its ear. Right now I am extremely concerned about the state of women's basketball in Stillwater. What I've seen lately from there is extreme apathy combined with a dogmatic ignorance of what real success is all about.
Hopefully she can take them past all that.

Judging the response from the OSU fans (not necessarily in this order):
1/ She is not qualified, they can do better.
2/ Who cares about women's BB?
3/ Is she a looker? (ie, is it someone those boys can fantasize about having sex with? Beats the sheep, I suppose...grin)
4/ Well, we know nothing about her, but if she was hired by cowboys, than she must be okay.
Whew, no wonder Stacy Johnson withdrew from the race. My question is why it took so long to name a coach given the list of candidates. Did Phillips string this process out to take candidates (like Overton) out of other jobs? Well, Johnson played the better of that game.
Good luck to her, but not TOO much! (grin) My suggestion would be to ignore the stupid boys who surround OSU sports and take her message to the heartland of girls basketball around the state.

Actually this selection fits right in with their "no support".
I don't think Div 3 coaches even have assistant coaches, and I can't imagine that Div 3 coaches make a whole lot of money.
Good for her, I hope she turns the program completely around. She seems to be as aware of academics as athletics and has obviously recruited Texas in the last 9 years.

I really hope they find diamond-in-the-rough type success from Julie Goodenough. OSU has way too good of an arena for just one gender. =oP

At least she coached at a four year college. When Coale was hired from a high school many people in Norman said OU didn't care about women's basketball and proved it by hiring a high school coach. Well look at where OU is now. Give her a chance before you pass judgement.

Mandy, I wasn't one of those people in Norman who said that about Coale. In fact, I think few people in Norman said that; it was others around the country who knew nothing about Sherri's background that were poo-pooing the decision. When Sherri was hired, she clearly blew away the selection committee.
I think you have misread our comments to think we are judging her. What we are saying is how Oklahoma State fans are portraying this hire, which is definitely a mixed bag. I know absolutely nothing about her other than the press release. So, how could I pass a judgment about her? We were questioning OSU's process (a long one) and their commitment to women's hoops.

Funny, the local Sports Animal pronounced the new head coach's name as Goodenuf not Goodeknow. That's my attempt at phonetic spelling. I'm assuming you pronounce it Goodeknow. If it's Goodenuf, well I guess there's some jokes that could be made with that name.

I just wanted to point out one thing that OhMandy touched on.
Not long ago, the school down the road hired a HIGH SCHOOL coach. Imagine that..a HIGH SCHOOL coach. What could she possibly know about coaching Division I college basketball? I mean what a moronic move that was......oh wait.
Don't tell me that all the OU pundits had so much love for Sherri Coale before she started kicking ass and taking names. There is no way people were fired up about a HS coach at that time, I don't care how wonderful the Norman program was. So she was a firecracker...still the credentials weren't there. But she has proven that she has lived up to the faith they placed in her.
So let's give Goodenough the benefit of the doubt for now. And for a few years. She's not going to turn that thing around overnight.
