UConn's recruits are scary!! I can't believe the talent they get each year.
Tech's Grant is just so calm and relaxed on the court. She scored 7 points (1-3 FG, 5-6 FT) and dished out 5 assists as the West's starting PG.
Texas' Nina Norman scored 5 points on 2-10 shooting.
Janice Bright (Nebraska) had 2 points on 1-7 shooting.

Does anyone know how long these team get to practice together?
5 assists is very good for not even playing with these other girls before.
Also, why is there never any defense played in these games? 94-85 in a 32 minute game????

Attention Texas Tech fans.....Erin Grant is Keeblerfied....She's Uncommonly Good.
I was really impressed with her, very impressed. She runs the floor well. Scrappy defensive plays all night, and she seemed to click well, especially with Ann Strother. Its a shame they aren't playing together, because those two seemed to have the connection working.
The game was quite good. CO MVPs Ann Strother and Shanna Zolman played as advertised. Both of them showed a lot of skill in their games. Both handle the ball well. Both pass very well and both of them can hit shots (Strother was 3-for-6 from the three point line). Both solid defensively, and what I really liked is the intensity they showed at both ends, especially Zolman. When Zilman was on the floor, the East team picked up their play. She was making other player better, and that could be the missing link for Tennessee.
The game featured a lot of offense, but it also had a some bad shots taken. Okay, a lot of bad shots taken. Nina Norman seemed to take a few of them. She had 2 airballs on the night, but also had an NBA range three in the fourth quarter that was VERY NICE! Also, she was another scrappy defender. In time she will be good.
I was highly interested in seeing Janice Bright, and showed some good things. Defensively need a little bit of work, but she has a good baseline. As an offensive point guard? She has the athleticism, but she made more than a few poor decisions out there, but then again every point guard except Grant was skittish tonight. Her shooting stroke needs work (I know its a judgement based one game, but her shooting form looks awkward and inefficient).
Overall, and excellent crop of kids with a lot of potential. If they work at it during the summer many of these kids are going to see a lot of playing time. And again, I'm very high on Erin Grant. The Red Raiders have a kid you can work with. She could very well be next year's Kendra Wecker in the Big 12.

There never is.....though "technically" these players are a team, they aren't. It's more about showcasing their talent and the talent that gets the most attention is offense.
Seimone Augustus 7-14 2-2 16....unless this girl has signed in the last 2 days, she's unsigned. I think it's between LSU and Tennessee, perhaps one other. She's from Baton Rouge, La. and decided to sign in the spring.

Heck, we'll take Strother too if the "connection" was THAT good. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif Glad to hear your impressions of Erin. I've watched her for four years and think she's a great PG. Her lack of size has always been a concern, but she seems to do okay. She's a winner and a leader, something that Texas Tech needs a big dose of next year!

Thanks Chipper for the report. How great that you have an opportunity to get to see these games. I guess the Sat game is in your backyard. Are you goint to that one?
Chelsi Welch will play in the WBCA game, I think. Even though she is headed to the enemy http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif, she's still a West Texas girl so I gotta pull for her to do well in that game.
When I saw Erin Grant play in the HS playoffs my impression was she is awfully young to have ice water in her veins. She looks like an older mother hen herding her chicks. She is in no hurry or rush, just wants to methodically stick the ball where it needs to be. And she gets to the free throw line a bunch and will make teams pay for that. No razzle dazzle from Grant. I just hope she has some of those Sue Bird qualities (Stacy Dales qualities would be good too http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif ).
Norman will be an athletic shooter who is fun to watch. I don't think the horns will mind some missed shots (with Stephens there to collect the rebounds) if she can safeguard the ball and slow down the turnover party that stalled Texas some this past year.
These girls will be great additions to a conference filled with talent all over the place.

I just got a chance to watch the last half of this game and I can hardly wait for Grant to get here. She made a couple of unbelievable dishes right under the basket to Strother..
I like the way this young lady plays, handles herself on the court and takes care of business. I think the combo with Perkins and Grant has the potential to be one of the best 1-2 punches in the country!
