There has been talk on other boards about some schools in the Big 12 leaving for football reasons. I have heard Baylor, Texas Tech and Missouri and even Colorado leaving. There was talk about the formation or reformation of the Southwest Conference with schools like Houston, TCU, SMU, Tulsa breaking away from their conference.

So what have you heard? Any truth to these rumors? I think it would be terrible for women's basketball if any schools leave.

That's a new one! hahaha! I don't think Tech will want to "downgrade" their competition. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Didn't they all consolidate a few years ago to step up the competition?

I haven't heard that either and doubt there is any truth to it........the Big XII was only formed in 1995?? and from the Big 8 of Colorado, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri.....
adding the Texas schools of Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor and Texas A & M to become the Big XII.

I would suspect the way the Big XII kicks butt in football and the amount of money it rakes in.......it would make absolutely no sense for any school to depart from the conference. How many went to Bowl games this year????....it was either 7 or even 8 and 2 schools in BCS games, which really, really rakes in the dough.
All money earned in bowl games is sent to the Big XII as a lump sum and split among all members of the Big XII.....Baylor is a very good example, though they don't have a very good football team, they do benefit from being in the Big XII financially. And they have other programs that benefit from that...that are very, very good like baseball, softball, women's basketball, track and field......
