Since it's 7 months to go till bball season...

Here's mine.
1. Uconn
2. Oklahoma
3. Duke
4. Tennesee
5. Vanderbilt
6. Colorado
7. ODU
8. South Carolina
9. Texas Tech
10. Penn State

1. UConn (there's no more doubt about it)
2. OU (hard to argue with this one, they are the second best team in the country)
3. Tennessee (they didn't impress me until the NCAA tournament when they looked like they meant business)
4. Duke (hey, I'm a strong supporter of the final four are the top four in the country http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/confused.gif )
5. Vanderbilt (I would have liked to put them in 4th but...)
6. ODU (they impressed!)
7. Baylor (upsets happen and I think that BU was just caught on an off night with all those people watching them; it does get stomach churning in those situations)
8. Colorado (definately deserved it despite big loss to OU)
9. Stanford (kinda wondering if this is right, but I didn't think South Carolina had a particularly hard time getting to the elite eight)
10. Texas Tech (Wouldn't have done this had they not put up a fight against the second place team, which they did, for the third straight year http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/rolleyes.gif )

Oops, I did forget Baylor...I do think they were a Top 10 caliber team. I'd put them in around 8-10.

Sigh. No respect from my B-12 friends for the #9 RPI # 10 SOS team in the country (final RPI rankings). http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif I guess I'll just have to wait and see how bad we get ripped by the final Coaches poll. Oh! # 10. Maybe KSU has not died yet. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif

Absolutely, agree with you KSUron. What Big 12 team beat two of the teams in the final four? Yet Texas Tech deserves to be ahead of them and KSU? Finishing 7th in the conference? What did Tech do that KSU and Texas didn't this year?

You know how polls are, but all I can think of is that they looked at the S16 games where Tech lost to OU by 10, and OU ended up in the final. UT and KSU's spread was larger and to teams that didn't get as far as OU. That's all I can come up with, but there's really no method at all probably.

Hey, no harm no foul. I'm just joking. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif Besides, Jennifer started this thread with the lable "So for kicks". Lets not take it too seriously. In fact its good to not have us overrated. Next year will be a whole new year and we will all have to re-earn our spurs.
I am mighty proud of the whole Big 12 and do not consider it a put down in any way to be rated behind other Big XII teams. I just could not resist another chance to toot my horn about KSU's season. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

A response to grojc's question, "Yet Texas Tech deserves to be ahead of them and KSU? Finishing 7th in the conference? What did Tech do that KSU and Texas didn't this year?"
Tech had the No. 2 strength of schedule in the nation and lost to the national champion runner-up for the second consecutive year. That's what KSU and Texas didn't do. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif
Tech and KSU will be top 10 teams next year. I see Texas in the top 10 as well if they can match their great post play with strong guard play.

No, Kansas State and Texas both lost to OU too. That was no problem for them. =oP
However, i will say that Texas and KSU managed to finish above .500 in their conference, which was something Tech couldnt do. Also, KSU had a higher RPI (9) than Tech's 12 and Texas's 14. But texas did manage to beat Tennessee and OU, so they got big game points in my mind.

Come on guys, these are just opinions! Just post your top 10 and leave it at that! Just no flaming PLEASE! That gets out of hand and then it's just downhill from there. We need to get the board to where it was when I joined. It had about 10 regular posters on it and everyone respected what everyone else said. Please calm down!

I hope no one thinks that im trying to flame people. I respect everyone's opinion on this board at least (not so much on the ESPN.com board). And i hope no one thinks that i believe that my own opinions are absolute. But if you cant state your own opinions if they step on the toes of the beliefs of others, then why even have a message board?

Raiderpower1, I don't see any flaming on this thread, just differences of opinion. There are no names called or insults thrown. Some people think Tech's #2 strength of schedule and strong NCAA showing justify a higher end of year ranking than KSU and Texas. Other posters point out that Texas and KSU finished ahead of Tech in conference and that Texas beat both Tennessee and OU late in the season.

That's great carolann! Now, if everyone could state their opinions in a fashion that doesn't attack someone else's opinions this world would be perfect!

Just for the record I love WBB and have had spirited discussions with some posters on this board. In one case I became concerned that I may have gotten too agressive and offended the other poster. I e-mailed the other "board member" to make sure they were not offended and was happy to hear they weren't. After that exchange though, I took it upon myself to be less agressive. It has been my experience that sometimes we do offend people when we don't mean to. I didn't bring this up to be defensive but to underscore that it is NOT my intention to put down anyone or their opinions.
Having said all that I think that if we get so PC on HoopScoop that we can't disagree (maybe even with a little spirit) it will take away from our chance to see things from differing points of view.
Therefore:
1. Please take whatever I say on this board as intended to bring up a point, defend my point of view, generate humor or to elicit debate. Nothing more. I like almost everyone I have ever met that is a true WBB fan, let alone a B-12 WBB fan, and I have no desire to offend them or drive them from this board.
2. As long as you don't use foul language or make outragious personal attacks on individuals (including players, coaches, or my fellow HoopScoop board members you will not offend me. Disagreement with what I say is most emphatically allowed and encouraged. As has been said "If two people agree on everything one of them is not necessary". If you never disagree with me the uneeded guy may be me.
I enjoy this board and the fact that knowlegeable fans come here and discuss WBB in reasonable ways for the most part. In my opinion you are all necessary.

I follow the Big XII players in the WNBA through the summer, it's either that or watch tapes of OU playing over and over.... http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
I'm not as crazy about the WNBA as I am College BB, but it's fun to watch some of the collegiate athletes that I'm familiar with.....
really liked watching Jackie,Jackie Stiles last year...
This year I will actually have a team (or two) I can root for.

Your right we do have the WNBA. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif I have gotten to the point that I really don't much care for the NBA.
I am a little worried that you might rerun OU tapes that you enjoy and I would think was a horror movie. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif (OU v KSU Big XII tourney) Dionnah Jackson's defense was a thing of beauty even when seen from the dark side.
