Another day of interesting action ~ Big East, Atlantic 10, Pac 10, Big 10, CUSA, SEC, ACC, MAAC, RMAC and probably others that I failed to list. A large percentage of them will be on TV.

Several games on TV featuring two ranked teams. First up ~~ North Carolina-North Carolina State. Can't get much more exciting than that! BUT there is also Arizona State-California, Michigan State-Purdue and Vanderbilt-LSU.

NC State up 10 with 9:36 left in the first half.

Go NC State!

Between this game, Big 10 semis, and a movie on TCM that I have wanted to see for a long time, I am going to have trouble studying. Stupid midterm later this week

NC State up 27-24 at halftime. Latta has three fouls and has shot well, but I think they may be playing better without her in there.

St. Joseph's defeated George Washington 57-55. So much for #8, but then a large portion of the top teams seem to be in trouble lately.

NC State might want to consider making free throws at some point. I haven't been watching as much, but it seems like they have missed a few easy points in the first and second half because of it.

Also, I've noticed in this game as well as others. It seems like a lot of players shuffle their feet when they have the ball, but the refs don't call the travel.

UNC up 3 with 8:30 to go.

Unless NC State can score 5 points in 8.2 seconds, UNC will win the ACC Tournament.

A couple of BS calls on both ends of this near the end. I hate it when refs don't call something a foul for most of the game but decide to in the last couple of minutes.

This is the only game I have watched so maybe I am not qualified to say it, but The Big Three out of the ACC have not impressed me in this tournament. Maryland hasn't impressed me for most of the season, so we'll see if they can kick it into another gear once the dance starts.

Latta and Larkins and Little did a great job in the 2nd half.

I'm really sorry to see NC State lose...but those missed free throws really hurt them. But they played with great heart and they got NCAA games at home.

I love Carolina...if it weren't for NC State, I would have been yelling for them.

Iona-Marist 53 all heading to OT. Marist wins 64-57

oh, pooh. :( But Iona didn't play well in the OT, the game was neck and neck the entire way.

Temple was also upset today by Xavier in the Alantic 10 semi.
The A-10 final will be between 3 seed Xavier and 5 seed St. Joseph's.

I thought Hampton's hair looked quite strking :)

Looks like ASU is going to pull this one out.

Hampton fouled out for Cal and Westerberg fouled out for ASU.

Ohio State-Penn State tied.

Ohio State has the ball and the shot clock is off.

**We are going to overtime. I guess OSU blew a 12-point lead.

I watched part of the Vandy-LSU game and had to turn it. I just couldn't get into it. My parents stopped by and even my dad commented on how boring it was. I am glad to see Vandy get the win though.

I think that's why I'm glad that they Big XII does have a day off between the semi's and the championship.

In a close quarterfinal Big East Tourney game against Pitt last night, former Oklahoma player Kelly Lam who is now a Marquette sophomore got a big rebound on a missed free throw by a teammate and got fouled on her shot. She completely airballed her first FT missing badly and all she could do was laugh. Her next FT missed but wasn't so off. It was kind of funny but I was wound so tightly I wasn't amused that MU made only 1 of 4 FT's on that possession and got myself in a bit of hot water with my husband when I got mad at him for continuing to laugh after the 2nd not so badly missed FT. Since MU won 61-51 I can laugh away this morning :-). Lam had a very nice game off the bench with 8 points.

Marquette faces Rutgers in the BET semis tonight at approx. 8p eastern on ESPNU.

Keep that number in mind when you read the quote from the AP writeup of the Tennessee-LSU semifinal yesterday: ...
Tennessee beat LSU in the 2005 and 2006 SEC tournament finals by a combined total of three points. With most seats taken in the 10,309-seat Gwinnett Arena, this semifinal had the feel of a championship game.
The official attendance number for the SEC semifinal session was the number at the top of this post.

Thanks to Charles Odum for the "unbiased" report.
