All I know is, looking at these matchups, anything can happen.

Since I have a few days to make my picks, I'll just say that I don't think I've ever seen a more appealing lineup of games, all stacked together in one place, in my life. I'm SO HAPPY that I'll be there for the entire tournament.

Even if my Sooner lost early, there's no earthly reason that I would not want to watch the games to come. WHAT A LINEUP! :)

We're going to pick the entire tournament now?Yes, thus the graded scale for points. This gives you a chance to pick the entire bracket, much like the contests that ESPN hosts for the NC2A tournaments.

"11. :nu: Win their first Big 12 Tournament and Coach Yori is named Coach of the Year in the Big 12 -- her first a many.

But, this statement, you'll have to explain this one based on what we've seen the last 6 games.

How will Nebraska win this tournament, because I don't see how they can do it right now.

And the Coach of the Year in this league? It's Gary Blair. Give it up to the man. He's won a regular season championship with defense and continual improvement. Connie's done an excellent job, but at crunchtime, she faltered, he didn't

Oh I'm just having fun! :) Remember Monty Python's advice, "Always look on the bright side of life . . . ta dum . . . ta dum . . . ta dum . . .ta dum. . . ta dum . . .

Seriously -- I agree about Blair -- he certainly deserves Coach of the Year this year -- as far as the tournament . . . anyone could win it . . . although Texas A&M or OU are the most likely . . . But I'm still pickin' my :NU:. I don't care what anyone says . . . ;)

Live from Native America! The Big 12 Tournament comes to Oklahoma City...and what a show it will be.

This week will be a special celebration and perhaps the best tournament in league history.

Coming off the heels of the most competitive season this league had ever had, we will see a week of passion unrivaled by any conference tournament.

For all the there are high stakes.

1. (8) Colorado vs (9) Texas Tech -- Texas Tech normally plays for bigger shares. This year they are playing to stay in the WNIT debate. They will get a game battle from Colorado, but they'll hold through to win Texas Tech 71, Colorado 69

2. (5) Iowa State vs (12) Kansas State -- ICBM State will effect a full-scale first strike. KSU will be preparing to defend their WNIT championship, we hope. Iowa State 72, Kansas State 52

3. (7) Texas vs (10) Missouri -- The Longhorns have been light out and making a desperate charge for the NCAAs. Missouri has not played as well as they could be and may see their season end in a hard loss. Texas 70, Missouri 63

4. (6) Oklahoma State vs (11) Kansas -- The game of the first day of the draw, Oklahoma State is on a magic carpet ride. Kansas is looking to start one here. The Jayhawks will be a holy terror next season, and will force 5 extra minutes. Oklahoma State 76, Kansas 74 (F/OT)

5. Texas Tech vs (1) Texas A&M -- The top seed will come out and day 2 and meet a Texas Tech team that will leave everything on the floor. The key will be the rough Aggie defense, they'll hem the Lady Raiders in and choke their offensive options. Texas A&M 66, Texas Tech 56

6. Iowa State vs (4) Nebraska -- This game follows the familiar Cyclone-Husker stereotype. Nebraska has the better athletes. Iowa State has the smarter basketball players. The athleticism is greater between the two teams. Nebraska has two all-Big 12 players in the starting five and an experience group overall. My lasses have had a great season, save the last 6 games. Regretably, I'm picking Iowa State for two reasons 1. Bill Fennelly. The better coach in this game is on the Iowa State sideline 2. Lyndsey Medders. The better point guard in this game is on the Iowa State sideline. Having a bench leader and a floor leader who do their job well is the key in March. Iowa State 68, Nebraska 64

7. Texas vs (2) Oklahoma -- Key battle to watch Ernisha Bailey vs. Jenna Plumley. I think Texas has a chance to win the game IF they can put the pressure on OU's backcourt to win the game and force Courtney up the court and help liberate that backcourt. Offensively, Cortijo and Raven have to be on their marks. Its a sound plan, but their one variable that will hurt Texas Which Tiffany Jackson shows up? When Tiffany wants to play, she plays great. But she doesn't seem to want to play every game. That uncertainity points to a chance to win lost. Oklahoma 73, Texas 69

8. Oklahoma State vs (3) Baylor -- Another overtime clash, I can see it this time, OSU won't win. Baylor has the experience and they have key piece OSU doesn't have that special presence in the middle, that Danielle Wilson person. I think, this kid will turn a lot of heads on this postseason. Baylor 77, Oklahoma State 72 (F/OT)

9. Texas A&M vs Iowa State -- A few weeks ago, ISU was able to convert free throws blunt TAMU's aggressive pressure defense. Gary Blair will make the adjustments, but often times adjusting to ISU can cause more problem than it solves. The biggest key will be who can execute and stay patient. Iowa State can do that, I don't think Texas A&M can do that offense enough. Iowa State 70, Texas A&M 65

10. Oklahoma vs Baylor -- I see a Leah Rush night, 27 points, 12 rebounds that provides a needed breakthrough in a perimeter stalmate. Oklahoma 78, Baylor 69

11. Big 12 Championship Game -- Oklahoma vs. Iowa State -- To the Southcentric media in the Big 12 this will be seen as an Oklahoma coronation, but Sherri Coale knows better. ISU last year took OU to some very dark places in their Big 12 quarterfinal game, and her team will be reminded of that. Bill Fennelly will be reminding his team of it, too.
Iowa State could very well win this game. Firstly, they have a serious advantage in the backcourt. Lyndsey Medders is the best in the league at running at offense and is a solid defensive player. Jenna Plumley may be the future, just like Courtney Paris learned last year, the past can still have some lessons to teach. Secondly, ISU is playing a more aggressive game in the muck-and-grind areas than OU over the last 8-10 games. The Cyclones aren't quite ICBM State (even though that threat is always there) They are rebounding, defending, setting good screens, moving well without the ball, passing the ball, in short sharp execution at both ends Oklahoma can rebound well (Courtney and Ashley can see to that). Defense. OU fans should be worried about the perimeter. Name a guard playing for Oklahoma now who you'd trust on a one-on-one defensive assignment?
However, OU has some big guns on their side. Courtney Paris is the biggest gun. But Ashley Paris has been very tough. In fact, the whole OU interior is brutal. Once that unit really get in sync, you are going to see Patrick Ewing-Alonzo Mourney-Dikembe Mutombo-Georgetown type stuff. This group has the potential as a unit to change the way interior play in women college basketball is conducted.
The second big gun is again, athleticism...and I think this were a game effort by Iowa State falls short. The gap is just too wide, and this year ISU doesn't have equalizer they had last year with Brittany Wilkins inside.

The Cyclones will give it a serious run, just like last season. And just like last season, OU's people will make enough plays to stay up front Oklahoma 75, Iowa State 72

Who gets in....
NCAA: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Baylor, Iowa State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State
Who got Katherine Harris Treatment: Texas (that win over Oklahoma would've gotten them in)
[b]WNIT: Texas, Missouri, Kansas State
