Iowa State at Kansas State: Marlies was important. It seems that K-State has lost its heart.
Texas Tech at Texas: I would never have thought that I would pick against Texas at home unless they were playing a top ten team.
Nebraska at Oklahoma State: Nebraska has better athletes, better basketball players, and, apparently, less heart. I can't believe that I'm picking OSU over Nebraska.
Kansas at Colorado: These may be the two best second division teams in the nation. Colorado should win, but Kansas plays with enthusiasm. They could actually upset some people in the Big Twelve tournament.
Texas A&M at Baylor: Baylor is much better inside and has the better shooters. There is no way that A&M should be in this game. But, there is no way that they should have beaten OU twice, or once. A&M is better than the sum of their parts and will probably upset Baylor.
Missouri at Oklahoma: Just when I thought OU might have solved its problems, new ones surfaced. Ouch.

I will tell all that the top four seeds (bye teams) had better be READY to play their first game in Big 12 tourney! I think the teams that play the first day have an edge on the teams that receive a bye just if for no other reason than getting rid of the nerves. Day 2 of the tourney could be a big upset day if the top 4 aren't playing their best. Will be very interesting!

Iowa State at Kansas State FSN 1:00 p.m..... You can start the Doomsday Clock on Deb Patterson, now. Iowa State 75, Kansas State 55
Texas Tech at Texas FSN 3:00 p.m......Two Texas teams enter, but how many will make the tournament. I think TTU's going to come out and get this one done...Texas Tech 69, Texas 67.
Nebraska at Oklahoma State 7:00 p.m....What is wrong with my lasses in red? Four things.
1. The focus isn't there. 2. Nobody's playing defense and haven't in 5 games 3. Our best players are not showing up or they are cruising 4. Our coaching staff has been MIA for the last three games.
This is why the Nebraska Cornhuskers are NOT as good as their record. In the last 5 games or so, this team has looked like a fraud. Against Iowa State, that fraud was exposed in the most definite manner possible.
Oklahoma State has been playing with the ability and the spirit it takes to make the NCAA Tournament. For the first time in maybe 2 years or so, I'm picking against Nebraska. Oklahoma State 71, Nebraska 66
Kansas at Colorado FSNRM 8:00 p.m........Colorado does great on senior night, but this game will be an overtime battle...and Kansas will pull through...Kansas 77, Colorado 76 (OT)
Sun., Feb. 25
Texas A&M at Baylor ESPN2 1:00 p.m......Battle in that tie for first place....You know I always pick against Baylor...this time I'm not, they are continuing their stealth flight to the front Baylor 69, Texas A&M 59
Missouri at Oklahoma 2:00 p.m.....Missouri is good enough to stay in the fight, but OU and their freshman wishbone quarterback will rack up the rushing yards on 'em....Oklahoma 79, Missouri 65

Nebraska at Oklahoma State :NU: I think we'll be back on track this time. Come on Huskers, don't let us down again! The motivation MUST be there (as well as much better accuracy.) We can spoil their Senior Night.
Kansas at Colorado :CU: That Rocky Mountain air will come in.
Texas A&M at Baylor :TAMU: Toss-up!
Missouri at Oklahoma :OU: The Tigers are heading for a trap!

Iowa State at Kansas State - a cyclone or two is coming to town (really :() I think the Twister Sisters are on a roll behind the Wild Bill train.
Texas Tech at Texas -tough game to pick. Come on, baby Longhorns, win one for the Tiff.
Nebraska at Oklahoma State - A part of me thinks this could be the game that gets Nebraska back on the track. But I really suspect this final game for Budke's bunch at home, these Cowgirls are going to be playing on heart.
Kansas at Colorado - I see you little squawk, squawk Jayhawks. Your time is a coming, it's tough young ones to play in a place like Colorado when you haven't played there before.
Texas A&M at Baylor - please? pretty please with sugar on top?
Missouri at Oklahoma - hmmm, I've seen some senior night games go to double OT. I think there are enough young guns on the roster should the minds of these elders go south.

Kansas State I don’t see a lack of heart in Kansas State, just a team that is hurt by a short roster, youth, and injuries. Those things tend to really show down the stretch.
Texas – Texas Tech will be at the Erwin Center for senior night and I don’t look forward to seeing a diminished Texas fan base and the huge numbers of Tech fans that are always at this game. Maybe the young Texas team can rise up and overcome a combination of fatigue, disappointment, and for some, physical pain, for 40 minutes to get a win in the last home game of the season. Maybe. The Longhorns match up well against Texas Tech, but there’s no denying that Tech has been playing with more consistency.
Nebraska – I don’t know why I’d buck the crowd like this when my record has been dismal lately. I’m just thinking it’s time for Nebraska to wake up and find enough offense to stay just ahead of the Cowgirls. I will say that if Nebraska wants to win, the Cornhuskers better be prepared to play hardnosed basketball for 40 full minutes. They’d better be prepared to put kleenix up their bloody noses, shake off the fog from a hard fall and play.
I disagree with Sybarite that Nebraska has better athletes than Nebraska. Nebraska may have better basketball players with a greater combination of skill and talent, but not more athleticism. I had to see OSU in person to see how good they are and how they do it. When I saw the OSU players hit the Texas floor for warm-ups, and looked at the Texas squad, I could see trouble. The OSU players looked big, strong, and healthy, and there were a lot of them. Looking over the small band of Texas players expected to play, including some who weren’t moving that well, and knowing that Budke plays a lot of players, it didn’t take a genius to figure out that in a close game OSU would have the advantage in the last quarter of the game. It was more brutal than I knew. The cowgirls play a hard, physical game for 30 plus minutes. THEN, Budke brings in a couple of fresh shooters off the bench to pour it on against the tired athletes of an opponent who has several key players who have to play most of the game or against players who wouldn’t normally be in at the end of a game except for starters being in foul trouble. The shooters make key shots, shots they might not have gotten open for earlier in the game when the other team was fresh.
Nebraska, though, has more depth and more scoring options than Texas. They have a couple of spares for both defensive and offensive purposes.
Colorado – Great game. Two young teams, Kansas and Colorado, that are getting better and building identities. The North could be rising.
Baylor – Going with the home team in a game that’s hard to call.
Oklahoma – The Sooners look like the obvious choice at home against a team in the bottom half of the conference this year, but we know anything is possible in the Big 12. Riddle has had a great season. She and Brooks will be missed by the Tigers next

Sat., Feb. 24
Iowa State at Kansas State FSN 1:00 p.m.
This is a much more confident and significantly improved team over the one that lost three straight road games at Oklahoma, Nebraska and Baylor. Kansas State has had an aura of doom around them for some time now. KSU doesn't have Marlies, and I think ISU gets that road win they've been looking for.
Texas Tech at Texas FSN 3:00 p.m.
Tech is 1-5 in their last six games, while Texas 2-7 in their last nine. And there the resemblance ends. Texas isn't playing at all like a roster loaded with high school stars, and seems to fade late in games, while Tech is playing with great effort, and improving at the same time their record had dipped into low bubble status. This Tech team is one that could make some noise in March, and I'm not confident enough in Texas to say the same for them. Tech to stay alive, and maybe get to play in March in the NCAA's.
Nebraska at Oklahoma State 7:00 p.m.
It's hard to believe, but OSU has been playing well enough that a good showing in the conference tourney might put them in at-large contention. But they'll need to beat both Nebraska and Kansas State to have that chance. I don't know what to say about Nebraska's apparent collapse, but if what I've seen of them lately continues, OSU will win this game.
Kansas at Colorado FSNRM 8:00 p.m.
Kansas is going to be a very good team, and right now they have better guards than Colorado, but CU has a lot of ways to attack KU inside. If it's a one-person show for CU they'll get upset at home, but with it being senior night I think we'll see great effort from the Buffs. I like CU, but won't be surprised if KU sneaks out with the win.
Sun., Feb. 25
Texas A&M at Baylor ESPN2 1:00 p.m.
I can't decide who I like in this game. Against my gut instinct, I'm going to pick Baylor because they are at home, and it's the last home game for their seniors. Also, there's that white-out thing, although it's had decidedly mixed results for OU...
Missouri at Oklahoma 2:00 p.m.
Missouri's breathed a little life into their season with a three game winning streak after losing 8 of 9. But a loss at OU on Sunday will all but end their hopes of an NCAA tournament bid. A team could get into the NCAA's with a 6-10 conference record, but only with a higher RPI than what Missouri will have, and a winning record in the last 10 games. Missouri may be desperate, but I don't think they have enough tools to upset OU. And although I worry about this OU team, the fact still remains that if they win this game and the next, they can do no worse than tie for the conference championship with A&M. With both games at home, the possibility definitely exists.
