Marquettefan.......what happened?

UT fans this is good for you? How you ask....The Jayhawks beat the Hall in the 1st game of the year....tick, tick, tick the RPI should be a little lower in the morning! Little closer to being under 100!

Exactly what I was afraid of unfortunately. Marquette had been making me nervous relying on Christina Quaye and Krystal Ellis for the vast majority of their scoring and it came back to haunt them big time. Quaye and Ellis combined to go 11/28 from the field and scored 15 and 25 respectively. But the rest of the team was a paltry 8/46 from the field (17%). One starter was 1-7 from the field and two players who started a lot of the year were 0-6 and 1-7 from the field. I got the impression from listening that they missed a lot of easy shots too - not so much great defense by Seton Hall. It sounded like SH did a good job of containing Quaye though who was limited to 3 points in the 2nd half and nobody else really stepped up. Ellis almost single handedly rallied them to victory with 10 straight points late to pull them within 1 but it wasn't enough. Too many missed FT's too going 16-24 at the line - Quaye missed 2 in the last minute when they were down 1 and then traveled after they had gotten the ball off her 2nd miss.
They still may be able to get a top 4 seed in the BET but they blew a golden opportunity here with what I consider a horrible loss (Seton Hall lost at DePaul Sat 85-60). With the way they played tonight and have been playing the last 10 games or so (the Louisville game being the exception) I'm not sure they win either of their remaining two - home to South Florida Sat and at St. John's Monday (and they struggled to put St. John's away at home last week). But they are perfectly capable of winning both and I really hope they can get a senior night win over South Florida.
