Getting her digs

A reporter asked OU coach Sherri Coale during the press conference Saturday if her program might become like Connecticut in the next few years.

"We have all the components to become the next UConn," Coale said, and not being able to pass up the opportunity to get in a dig, added "except ESPN isn't right down the street."

ESPN, the official network of the women's tournament, is located in Bristol, Conn.

"Can you guys get a surrogate office in Oklahoma City or something?" Coale joked.

OU All-American Stacey Dales and Connecticut All- American Sue Bird share a common past. Both suffered season-ending knee injuries during their first seasons.

But Bird respects Dales' choice of OU five years ago.

"For some reason, she decided to go to a place and build it into a power," Bird said. "I chose the easy route and went to a place that was already built."

Count Connecticut senior Tamika Williams as a fan, from afar, of Coale.

"She's wonderful and I love her," Williams said. "I love her style and pizzazz. She is trendy in what she wears with the litle outfits and heels. I always look at her and think, "You go, girl.'"
