In recognition of the community service efforts by Big 12 student-athletes, the Conference announces its' inaugural Winter Sports Good Works Team. Each member institution selected a student-athlete for recognition based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in a Big 12 sponsored sport. Beginning this athletic year, the Big 12 announced a 12-person Good Works Team for the fall (football, cross country, volleyball, soccer) and winter (men's basketball, women's basketball, swimming and diving, gymnastics, wrestling); and will release a squad for spring sports in April (golf, tennis, track & field, softball, baseball).
2007 BIG 12 WINTER SPORTS GOOD WORKS TEAM

Kelsey Griffin So. Nebraska Women's Basketball
Courtney Paris So. Oklahoma Women's Basketball
Destanie Sykes Sr. Oklahoma State Women's Basketball

Of the 12, 7 are women's basketball players. Way to go ladies!
Interesting 9 of the 12 are female and there's only 1 male basketball player.
Are the men's coaches not getting the men involved in the community enough?
