42-30, Nebraska.2nd half..

What I like....The way we're getting after it inside.

What I don't like....Perimeter defense...again.....TOO MUCH CHASING AND WE DIDN'T CHALLENGE SHOTS...

Bebe, try running as few open windows as possible...The more apps you are running, the more diffcult it is for the machine the sync the screening.

Also, running thing like Gametracker can affect the stream.

Kansas State is passing smart and setting up open shots...Our perimeter defense is not playing with the intensity tonight, and they K-State's guards can take that initiative. 42-39....

ChipperF1
02-07-2007, 08:41 PM
Turned up the turbo boost...Some key drives by Kiera Hardy help boost the lead to 51-43...then K-State keeps punching

55-47, Nebraska leads, but we have to stay focused and have to turn the wick up defensively.

Well, it looks like I will get at least one pick 'em right this session.

ChipperF1
02-07-2007, 08:53 PM
59-51 53.5 left....

Aubry chucks one into the seats.....KSU has the ball....KSU had two chances and miss...

Nebraska didn't execute the way they have the last few games. Our perimeter defense laxed at points then came on then laxed...

A rather unsettled effort and it isn't over yet..

Zac Ford has 10 points tonight....Another solid offensive effort....(defense...a different story)

Nonetheless....WIN #20.....FIRST SINCE 1998-1999...FIRST SWEEP OF KANSAS STATE SINCE 2001.

Congratulations My Lasses WELL STRUCK!!!!!!

Who would've predicted Ford with 13 points and Aubry with 13 rebounds??

Cory Montgomery played some big minutes (as did three other freshmem) and scored 8 big points while Danielle and KG were in foul trouble.

Nebraska 62, Kansas State 55 FINAL

Let me get this right. Kelsey Griffin had first half foul trouble. Dani Page was in foul trouble. Chelsea Aubry was in it too...

Our perimeter defense was getting cut up at points. Kansas State was kicking us around....But then we turn up the wick and bench players come in and outscore K-State's bench 23-4.

What do we get? Win #20!!!!!!

Chipper's RockStar MVP: Ashley Ford! (Yes, really ASHLEY FORD!) 10 points, 2 assists. Don't call her "Rex"....We'll stick with "Zac"....She's winning the Jami Kubik award for best Division II player who is playing a Division I role...or maybe I'm wrong about calling her a spot-starter at UNK. In any case, Ashley played her butt off.

Cori Montgomery did too, who had to play big minutes. Yvonne Turner led the defensive charge again...and Nicole Neals came in and gave a boost until we could safely risk Griffin and Aubry.

"I was really pleased with our toughness." -- Connie Yori

Over the last four games, I have been too! That has been the one thing you haven't seen from Nebraska in the last seven years. This year, I can really say it and tell the truth AIN'T NOBODY SISSIFIED!

Outrebounded K-State 46-33???? Wow!

OVERALL OUTLOOK: The Apparition and I are having a debate over the following questions.

Is Nebraska as good as their 20-4 record would suggest?
Can these girls get to the Sweet 16?

A future post will have how we both look at the subject. I'm taking the negative side, he is on the affirmative. But, I will say...making a negative case is pretty difficult, especially with the last three games.

Tonight, I'm rather pleased with how the Huskers of tomorrow responded. Cori Montgomery came in and did what she does a lot..Just play well. Yvonne Turner on defense is on fire. This kid must be putting in extra work. Nicole Neals got an opportunity and did well with it, including hitting a run-stopping shot.

And there are the seniors. Kiera Hardy gutted out a tough game and stayed with it on offense (13 points) and playing some smart quarterback when needed. However Her defense is still lacking. More effort needed. More desire needed.

Chelsea Aubry wasn't the Aubry I know on the boards. She was bodying up for 12 points and 12 REBOUNDS!!!!! 12 RODMANS FOR CHELSEA AUBRY???? UNICAMERAL AUBRY????? SOFY CHELSEA AUBRY????? 12 BOARDS!!!!!! That's like Matt Coatney not doing those Soy Biodiesel ads....That's as rare as Eric Crouch throwing a pass...Chelsea Aubry going up hard pulling down a rebound their warding off defender with some sharp elbows. You just don't see that.

Well, tonight we saw it...And we saw Ashley Ford picking her shots and taking them...10 points.

I'm afraid that I'll wake up from this dream and it'll be 2002 again...And I'm seeing Texas Tech's cheerleaders scoring on us in a beating. OR watching Colorado beat the stuffing out of us again...

Mr. Coatney you are right this is a dream season.

Congratulations My Lasses! 20 Wins!
But, you know the rules....Tomorrow, CELEBRATION OVER.

We have a streak to start in Boulder Saturday.

Thanks for posting some info. I gave up on trying to watch it. Even with nothing else running on my computer, it chopped up so much that whole possessions were missed at times. If I recall right, none of the commercials were messed up tho.

for ksu fans who are regulars to their home games I have a question. The last two home games have been on tv and I have noticed lots of empty seats. I thought ksu nearly sold out in past years. I say this because I will be coming down to manhattan for the :isu: :ksu: game. I normally get hooked up with tickets through my team and figured that was a must for a road trip to ksu. You don't want to travel all that way to find the game soldout and you can get in.

As of this moment, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas A&M are in a flat-footed tie for first in the Big 12 race.

A&M is 5-0 in conference games at home and 3-2 on the road. Both Oklahoma and Nebraska are 4-1 home and away.

A&M currently holds the #1 seeding position for the Big 12 tournament, by virtue of their ONE POINT home win over Nebraska and their TWO POINT win over OU in Norman.

OU holds the #2 seed because of head-to-head over the Huskers.

Essentially, since all conference tournament tiebreakers are first broken among tied teams within the division, Nebraska has to finish with a better record in Big 12 play to get the tourney top seed, as if it really makes all that much difference this year (other than the honor of course, and you get a conference championship any time no team finishes above you in the standings).

OU is very likely to lose the conference championship if they lose in College Station on Saturday. They would need to finish with a better record - winning two more games than A&M in the last five - in order to win the division, and under those conditions, most likely the Big 12 title.

As you can imagine, I sure am glad that game is on TV this weekend.

So leading the conference are A&M, OU and Nebraska, with Baylor a game behind. It should be noted that Baylor plays 4 of 6 remaining games at home, however.

(NOTE: THIS PORTION OF THE POST WAS IN ERROR AND WAS DELETED, DUE TO AN INCORRECTLY RECORDED SCORE. PLEASE SEE MY POST BELOW FOR A MORE ACCURATE ASSESSMENT AND TEAM RANKINGS.)
In spite of their loss yesterday, Colorado is alone in 8th, although they show in the standings as tied with with OSU. But OSU has only 2 remaining home games and Colorado 3, thus the Buffs are plus one over the Cowgirls in "the real standings". OSU is really tied for 9th with Kansas State at minus 2, but OSU has two home games remaining to KSU's three.

Missouri and Kansas are in 11th and 12th respectively, but Missouri could change their fortunes dramatically with a winning streak, while Kansas's season ends if they lose in Oklahoma City, regardless of their remaining regular season results.

Right now, I have no idea who will win the conference championship, it could be any of about five teams, although it's quite likely that one of the three teams currently in first will win it, or maybe all of them.

This conference just amazes me. OSU pounds Texas, Kansas gets their first win over a resurgent Colorado team. Tech appears to be playing their best ball in two years, and Baylor beats them convincingly in USA.

There are no predetermined outcomes in conference play this year.

Aren't Texas Tech, Texas and Iowa State all tied at 5-5?

What is worse for a South Team? Lose one game to the North and one game to the South (Texas A & M)?
or Lose two games to South Teams (OU?)

K-State's attendance is respectable, between 3,000 - 5,000. But, it is nowhere near where it was when Ohlde, Wecker, Mahoney, Koehn were playing.

My apologies, I inadvertently recorded the Texas loss at OSU as a win for the Longhorns.

So my previous post about conference standings has to be amended as follows, with teams listed in current conference tournament seeding order, while their ranks in conference standings precede the team name.

1 Texas A&M 8-2 +3
1 Oklahoma 8-2 +3
1 Nebraska 8-2 +3
4 Baylor 7-3 +3
5 Texas Tech 5-5 +0
5 Iowa State 5-5 +0
5 Texas 5-5 +0
8 Colorado 4-6 -1
8 Oklahoma State 4-6 -2
10 Kansas State 3-7 -2
11 Missouri 2-8 -3
12 Kansas 1-9 -4

There is no determined order yet among Texas, Texas Tech and Iowa State, other than both Iowa State and Texas Tech currently have tiebreakers over Texas. And all three teams have three home games remaining. I put Texas Tech above Iowa State because the Cyclones play at Lubbock on 2/28. But it should also be noted that Tech plays at Nebraska and A&M, as well as at Texas on the 24th, and ISU also has to play at Baylor and at K-State, as well as the game in Lubbock.

Not a lot of confidence yet in the exact placement of teams at the end of the season...

(Correction - again - one other result was recorded incorrectly and had to be changed. It did not affect the standings, only the records of two teams: Baylor and Kansas.)

Really pleased at how the Huskers kept their composure and never let the Cats get any closer than 3 especially with Kelsey & Danielle sitting on the bench in foul trouble. The Red bench showed up in force tonight. Great games from Ford & Aubry. I really like how the freshmen are now beginning to assert themselves when coming into the game.

There will no doubt be tickets available. Tonight the KSU - KU mens game was a big distraction. Most K-Staters consider nothing more important than beating KU in Basketball and Football. With KSU on a win streak the purple people were extra pumped up about the game. I know of a bunch of fans who either went to Lawrence or watched the men on TV.

PS : The KSU - NU game was better than the KSU - KU game. ;)

This was a loss and that always hurts BUT. I was very proud of the team tonight. They gave good effort and are getting various parts of their game including defensive intensity back. Naytanda Smith played very well.

Nebraska earned a good road win. Congrats Nebraska.

I got to meet a nice couple from Nebraska. They were relatives of Coach Yori and of course are very proud of her. (My wise guy side thinks Connie might have More relatives this year than last} :D These folks were legit btw. They spent part of their time talking to Coach Yori's husband. They have a right to be proud of her and the team.

GO Wildcats!!!!

and since the game is over, GO BIG RED!

As a B12 fan, I too was very proud of the way the Wildcats held their own and hung in their making it quite an exciting game. I had to flip back and forth from the OSU/OU men's game b/c I was so into it. Two great teams.

BTW, I love watching both Lehning and Zanotti play.
