two cents

It may already be too late to make these recommendations, but I hope not.
There are plenty of restaurants on the Riverwalk, of course. But if you're willing to try something away from the downtown area, I have two suggestions.
La Fogata
If I remember correctly, it's on Vance Jackson off of I-10. I think just a few blocks west of I-10. This place should not be too difficult to find. I believe they have a marquee with a picture of a log-burning fire.
This is absolutely my favorite Mexican food restaurant of all time. Once upon a time, it was a small place, but they had enough publicity and success to expand quite a bit, so I can't guarantee the quality will be what it once was. However, if I were going to San Antonio for a few days, I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to find out. It can be crowded on the weekend, so go early or plan to talk a lot of basketball while waiting. Also, they serve breakfast/brunch on Sundays. Great way to start off a national championship kind of day!
It's been a few years, so I can't remember specifically what dishes to recommend. You might consider ordering some stuff a la carte to get a variety of flavors. Try to order at least one thing with Oaxacatl cheese. If whatever you order comes with a bowl of melted Oaxacatl cheese, eat it immediately, it thickens quickly. Other things I can remember are the distinctive salsa and an excellent chicken soup with a bit of lime.
India Oven or Indian Oven
This one is north of Loop 410. I seem to remember something tricky about finding it by its street address. San Antonio can be confusing, so you would probably need a good map after finding its address in the directory. It may be useful to know it's in a small shopping center.
They have some of the best Tandoori dishes around and a remarkable variety of Indian breads. The last time I was there, we got a bread made with cherry and pistacchio to go and ate it for breakfast the next day. The waiter thought that was pretty weird. On some weekends, they had belly dancing, although I was never there on the right night to witness the spectacle.
