Well, after 10 minutes of watching a little animated something go around and around in circles and staring at the words "loading interface", I gave up accessing the coaches conference. Would someone please post anything interesting that came out of the conferece? Many thanks.

I tried to hear it BUT this year they have chosen a technology which can not be used from a MAC. Gee thanks B12 - making a change to make it worse is not my idea of progress.

ah, phooey.......I forgot.
Right now, Cindy Stein is on. I think they archive the entire thing, but I don't know how long that takes.

So far most of the questions for all of the coaches I have heard (I missed Coach Coale at the outset, due to the length of time it took for the connection to be made  ) have focused on 2 general themes:
comments on the upcoming 35th anniversary of Title IX and how it has changed the game; and
comments on how much more athletic the players are today and what has contributed to that.
Here and there there have been a question or 2 posed to a coach about an issue/game specific to their team, but overall there hasn't really been much 'news'.
That may change, as Coach Blair just came on.

Did you hear the end of it BearLady? I have to use a different computer at work to hear it and I didn't have that kind of time to be away from my office. For some reason, my computer freezes on about half the video out there, it does let me watch American Idol, Ugly Betty and U-Tube, but no CSTV video ;)
I missed Sherri, Kim and Connie Yori; did catch most of Cindy Stein's. Then I missed a lot of Blair's and Deb Patterson's.
I think the only game info I really heard was in Kurt Budke's about Texas, though I missed the first part of his time. And I think Kristy Curry touched on a few things about Texas Tech and Baylor.
I don't understand why these people around here that I work with think they need to speak to me when I'm trying to listen to somethin' important :D
My listening was rather disjointed today. I'm going to try and catch the archived copy tonite.
Bear Lady is right: Mechelle is working on the Title IX and an Oklahoma reporter seems to be working on the "more athletic player, here is my article for male practice players".
I will say, more than one coach said that the male practice thing is bull (ok, they didn't say it like that), but there are more pressing and larger issues to deal with than the male practice thing.

yes, swok, I heard most of it, except probably the last couple of minutes of Coach Patterson's comments.
How blessed we are to have Coach Blair in our conference. :) When he came on, he didn't wait to be asked a question. Instead, the first thing he said was that we needed to be having more than 2 teleconferences a month. Then he asked Mechelle if she couldn't do something about that. ;)
He was asked about the issue of using male practice players and said that it is past time to put that issue to rest. That 98% of the people involved wanted to continue using them and that only 2% want to stop it. Said it was time for the 'minority' to put down their hatchet. And praised Coach Conradt for her eloquent comments on the topic.
Then he went on to offer a very interesting comment. He said that he has 2 women among his practice players. They are not members of the A&M team but instead are students who for whatever reason could not play basketball. He cited reasons as their not being able to fit it into their class schedules or perhaps not being quite skilled enough for D1 play. But he highly praised the women, saying that 1 played the PG on the practice squad while the other played the post (I think).
What a unique twist on this whole issue. I've never heard of other women being on the practice squads.
Coach Blair also said that Atunrase is not anywhere near full speed. Said her foot is coming along nicely but she has an inside ankle sprain that is making very little progress. He does expect her to play against Missouri but expects that she will come off the bench.
As far as the comments from Coach P: she was asked about Gipson's progress and responded that she had "re-injured herself" during a rehab session last Saturday. She didn't comment on whether she was probably finished for the season but did say that she was going to need more time to get back to where they thought she was prior to the re-injury.
After listening to Coach P's comments re Marlies, I couldn't help but be reminded of how the description follows the way that the hockey teams describe their players' injuries. "Modano has a lower body injury," etc. :)

I've never heard of other women being on the practice quads.
I've never heard of it either, but I know that there have been times when the OU men's team was so short handed that assistant coaches and managers had to practice for them to be able to go 5 on 5. I would assume this has happened for some women's teams, too.

That's what I was afraid of....:(

I've seen young women as well as young men on the practice teams at Texas.
