Officiating Board

This is a link to a board where bb officials post and have discussions about officiating bb games. I find it interesting to read this board once in a while.

A couple of observations:

WARNING - haven't' seen a college level official posting there. In fact, there are a lot of relatively new officials who do elementary and JV games.

One other thing I have noticed which disturbs me: More than a couple of posters are of the "never explain, never apologize" school as if admitting a mistake will take away their "power".

Some (but it seems fewer than when I first started reading the board) really dislike "girl" games and try to avoid officiating them and have nothing good to say about WBB at the college or professional level.

On the positive side, there is one female ref who posts regularly who is respected by the posters and tends to keep some of the more knee jerk anti-"girls games" commenters honest. And there are more than a couple of very knowledgeable posters who have been around long enough to have a good grasp of the "rules" as well as the elements of "game management."

On the whole it is very interesting and informative.

Great Link! I loved the response to Backcourt Violation. It seems zebras really do have a sense of humor.;)
