Out of the Star tribune.....
Looking forward to seeing this kid in the Crimson and Blue!!!!!!
Sis stays out of it
Krysten Boogaard, the 18-year-old 6-4 younger sister of Wild enforcer Derek Boogaard, has committed to play basketball in the fall at Kansas after playing this year for the Canadian national team.
But Derek, who stands 6-7, says his kid sis' achievements in basketball cannot be traced to any one-on-one matches she had against him while growing up in Regina, Saskatchewan.
"Me and [younger brother and former Wild draft pick] Aaron train every morning in the summer and we always tease my sister to come out to play basketball and bring a couple of her friends," Derek Boogaard said.
"But we don't really play by the rules. We'll smoke you if you're jumping in the air. We'll throw the odd elbow to the head. She knows she wouldn't be an exception. So, we haven't really played together in a awhile."
Krysten Boogaard has four older brothers.
"We didn't treat her like a girl," Derek said. "That's why she's so tough and mentally tough now. When I was 18, I was kind of worried about everything. I didn't like leaving home. She had no problem with it."
