Jayhawks seeking extra effort; kusports.com (http://www2.kusports.com/news/2007/jan/13/jayhawks_seeking_extra_effort/?womens_basketball)
"It's just really hard," freshman guard LaChelda Jacobs said "were right there on the edge. ... We just need that extra push. We just got to find out a way to pull it out in the end."

KU will look to pull out it's first conference victory when it entertains Nebraska University (13-3 1-1) at 7 tonight in Allen Fieldhouse. The Cornhuskers, who lost their first conference game, 77-69, to Oklahoma on Saturday, have six players averaging at least six points per game.

“(They’re very) talented, very balanced,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson said, “probably as balanced as they’ve been.” “(Griffin)’s a very multi-talented, a very complete post player,” Henrickson said. “Hardy’s a scorer. She’s a playmaker.”

•BOTTOM LINE: Nebraska has more depth and skill inside this season. As will be the case in every Big 12 contest, the Jayhawks must establish some consistency on offense to hope to pull an upset

Road games no worry for Aubry; Omaha World-Herald (http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_pg=38&u_sid=2312504)
Although Yori has urged her players to pretend that crowds on the road are cheering for them, she rarely mentions the words "road game." "I think the more you talk about how hard it is to win on the road," Yori said, "the more teams buy into that. It's still the same game. It's just in a different gym."

This game makes me really nervous...especially in light of how well KU played against Baylor.

I expect big games from Aubry and Spiric today...just a hunch..:NU:

Halftime: NU 25 KU 18

Griffin, Spiric, and LaFleur with 5 points apiece. Kiera only has 2 points but we're still ahead by 7...Let's hope she heats up in the 2nd half.

Freshman Kohn leads KU with 5 points.

Give KU credit, Coach Bonnie is going to have a real good team in just a matter of time. They're young and really active on both ends of the court. They look like a team in the mold of a Big 10 team. The Huskers just looked lethargic and out of sinc. Too many stupid turnovers to go along with giving up way to many second & third chance shots. The inability to get a defensive rebound was driving me nuts  I thought TK played a nice game as did Kelsey.

Kelsey came out in the first half in agony holding her left hand because she had jammed her ring finger. I practically gagged as I watched the trainer grabbed it and popped in back in place right in front of me. It was like that NFL commercial you see where the guy falls off the training table after witnessing the same thing. Kelsey went right back out there as if nothing happened.

On the way down a radio station I was listening to out of KC said they had a couple of inches of snow but I think the only place it seemed to have accumulated was in the streets of Lawrence!

I agree that our defense was terrible on Saturday, and also, the refs weren't helping much when the Jayhawks were aggressive in the post when we were on offense  (that one is my favorite emoticon--it's funny to me.)

I really like how resilient the Huskers have been from injury and other problems this whole season (and each of the Huskers' respective careers.) Just look what Kelsey and Jelena, among others, have had to go through!

One more thing: Go figure on that snow forecast!
