Just wanted to post some things I've heard, read, discovered......

Heard Greg Swaim being interviewed yesterday on the radio about the OSU head coaching position and he mentioned that a Georgia assistant had been in for an interview. I no longer have a lot of faith in what Greg Swaim has to say after the "rumor" he posted on the O State board and then had to retract and say it was coming primarily from the "hs coach" interested in the position. And I sincerely hope the committee does not take him seriously, either....if they heard any of what he said. He also mentioned that Jack Easley (OSU assis) was interviewing and made comment that Easley has done ALL the recruiting, as Halterman wouldn't recruit at all.

He says OSU should NOT hire a high school coach, they need someone that is familiar with Division I recruiting. That kinda pissed me off since it didn't seem to affect OU and Sherri Coale after all the flak they received for doing the same thing.

Best person for the job: Bo Overton, he is familiar with recruiting and the state of Oklahoma. OU didn't have a winning season until he came aboard, except for Stacey Dales, he has recruited all the talent that has Oklahoma winning today......

Did Bo recruit Laneisha Caufield? OU would have had to already be in on her to have landed her, right? This is Bo's 4th year and Laneisha would have already have been signed if I figure my dates correctly.
Oklahoma State's committe is made up of 3 women and 2 men, one of those men being Terry Don Phillips and Swaim does believe they will look for a woman, but THEY should hire the best candidate possible (his words, not mine).

I was noticing in the paper today, the number of Oklahoma teams competing for championships at the JUCO, D2, levels....incredible Oklahoma schools.

NAIA: Oklahoma City defeated Southern Nazarene for champion.
JUCO: Champ game tonite, Seward County, Kansas vs Northeastern AM
Div 2: Cal Poly Pomona vs. Southeastern

makes me even sadder that OSU didn't take that NIT bid......

Also heard that OU's #1 girl on their list per James Hale is Mario Villarroel who plays for Northeastern A & M. Last night she scored 23 points and added 6 assists; NEO A & M is where Rosalind Ross came from........hmmmmmm, if I were Oklahoma State, this is the coach I'd go after. I know he's male, but don't know a lot about him, he does seem to bring in a lot of talent from around the states and "countries" if I recall correctly.

Crystal Robinson, New York Liberty player's sister, Brandi plays for Southeastern. That game will be shown, tape-delayed on Sunday morning at 11 am on ESPN 2.......just in case everyone doesn't overdose on basketball today http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Sorry this turned out so long.......

swok34: I don't understand why you feel this way. Every player I've talked to raves about Coach Coale's ability to sell them on the program with nary a mention about Bo. Don't get me wrong - I'm sure Bo has had a very large hand in recruiting. But its not like Sherri can't recruit. And just cuz OU started getting better when Bo arrived doesn't mean that was because of Bo. Sherri laid the groundwork long before Bo came on the scene.

Now, I have heard Greg Swaim go on and on about Bo and that he is the reason why they are recruiting so well. But, as you've already pointed out, sometimes you have to wonder if what he is saying is 100% correct.

And I've heard people attribute OU's great defense to Bo as well. Poppycock - OU's man-to-man defense was instituted from day one by Sherri and she has been pounding into these players how to execute the defense since she came on the scene in 1996.

I don't mean to take anything away from Bo. From all indications he is very worthy of a Div. I coaching job. But I wouldn't even for one second entertain the thought that losing Bo will suddenly bring a downturn in OU's recruiting or defense.

those were Greg Swaim's words, not mine http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif.....I kinda goffed at them, also.

I know Sherri, Jan, Stacey AND Bo all play a part in recruiting.
And I've heard recruits quoted as saying, "I want to play for Sherri".
