You've got everything it takes to beat Duke. You're one of the best teams in the nation and San Antonio is right up the street. Whatever happens your fans know how hard you've worked and how cool you are. Thanks for taking us to the sweetsixteen with you. Tomorrow will be a great game and its been a joy watching you this season. We believe!

ditto, the sentiments.....

You have everything it takes to beat Duke, and you've already beaten Tennessee on THEIR home court. Duke's not even on their home court, though up the street.

"You have everything it takes to beat Duke"

Except guards. Jody C, your backcourt is killing you.

Chipper, Texas just came out tight as a piano wire today.

I predict that they will make a run on Duke fairly shortly. It's interesting - I turned away to the other game for almost 10 minutes, and returned to see Texas hit a shot to make it 24-10 Duke. It was 24-8 when I changed channels.

While disappointed with today's performance and outcome, I have to say that for the first time in a long time, the season has come to an end and I am pleased with the season as a whole. Not satisfied with today's loss, mind you, but this was a positive season for the Longhorns. All of the players and coaches should hold their heads high and be proud of the effort put forth this year. The program is headed in the right direction. Today's loss will be yet another valuable experience for the young players on the team and the next couple of years should be fun ones!

Jody Conradt said it best

I told the team we are not going to judge the success of this season on the outcome of one game. Other than the loss, the thing I'm most dissapointed in was that you didn't get to see this team at its best.

Sure, it's disappointing to lose (and do so ugly) but Texas had a great season.

While I, too, am disappointed in our horrific offensive showing, I am very proud of the fact that we showed a lot of character and kept fighting. We brought a near 20 deficit down to THREE points! Too bad we spent all we had playing catch up and had nothing left to finish the game. As for this season as a whole, I feel extremely good about our program once again. Guard play, as it has pretty much all year long, killed us today. I sure will be glad when we get some guards that take care of the ball, and have the mentality of when to go full force and when to ease up and get in control. I'm looking forward to Nina, Tamra, and Stephanie suting up in the Burnt Orange next season. I still wish we could get a TALL, TALL, girl. Ashley Robinson - - Don't you want to come home? You'd fit it great with what we already have, and wouldn't have to share many minutes! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Texas could also use a little of the "no respect" attitude that CU has adopted. Instead of writing NR on our hands, perhaps we could put it on our foreheads. A sampling of the lack of knowledge/respect from the ESPN announcers today:

Ann Meyers during a discussion about Texas vs. Tennessee this year: "Texas really played Tennessee close this year. The final margin was only... (long pause)... oh, Texas beat Tennessee." Annie, just roll over and go back to sleep, please.

Nancy Lieberman during a discussion about Tennesse being upset at getting a #2 seed: "Well it is really just their own fault, the way they played against Texas and LSU." That was a backhanded dis to the fine game Texas played against Tenn.

Also, the repeated references to Duke winning despite not playing their best offensively kind of rubbed me the wrong way, too. I guess our defense had nothing to do with it.

All in all, it has been a nauseating day listening to the commentators at ESPN.

My son came running into the room because I was yelling at the TV they lost! THEY LOST! He thought I was yelling that the ISU wrestler lost.

Yes, that was special. A good 'laugh out loud' is so good for releasing tension.

I've nothing to add to Bevo, JK, and others. I'll enjoy the next round of games and then root for the Big 12 survivor in the final four. Then I'll go back to the absurd sport of 'recruit watching' because I can't help myself. Spring signing day is coming and I have no idea if Texas plans to sign anyone. I only count 12 players on next year's roster.
