Here in NM, New Mexico State just recently announced they would serve beer and wine at men's games at the refurbished Pan Am Center. They say it's a trial and people will be limited to buying 2 drinks.

Evidently 4 or 5 other WAC schools serve alcohol at men's bball games. The new UNM AD stated there was NO way UNM would go that direction. This has raised a lot of discussion here in NM.

I'm opposed to it. I'm not against alcohol. But I'm so sick of going to other events and having sloppy drunk people ruining the experience. I don't think it belongs on a college campus.

Do any of your schools serve alcohol at men's or women's bball games? What do you think about this?

CU's MBB, WBB and volleyball games are played at the COORS Events and Conference Center................ It should come as no surprise that beer is available for purchase at the concession stands. I've been attending games there for 13 years now and as best I recall, it has always been that way. Fortunately, I've never encountered any incidents of drunk behavior.

OU does not for basketball .......or football.

Actually (and maybe another Sooner fans can recall better than I).....when OU expanded the east side and added suites to the football stadium, there was some uproar about those who purchase suites had the ability to bring alchohol. I don't know what the final say was but it was a todo in the local news a couple of years ago.

I don't like the "atmosphere" it creates, seeing it at the Big XII tourney...

but then I don't drink.

"Don't drink. Don't smoke. What do you do? Don't drink. Don't smoke. What do you do?"

swok, your comment made me think of you and that popular 80s song. Forgot who sung it. I'm getting old myself.;)

And you are correct in the big donor OU alums being outraged they couldn't have alcohol in their private boxes at football games. It went into a letter writing campaign to the state legislature, but I think Boren worked out some kind of deal with them. Not sure exactly what it was.

Adam & the Ants.

In the last 11 years or so I've only witnessed one beer-related incident at the Events Center, it was at a men's game and actually didn't occur until after the game when the students rushed the floor.

It's against state regulations to sell alcoholic beverages of any kind on state supported campuses in Texas so that takes care of Texas Tech, Texas A&M and The University of Texas. I can't ever see Baylor allowing it. There was a big debate when the new sky boxes for both the United Spirit Arena and the football stadium came into being. I think the compromise was that the sky box owners could bring in wine, but I'm not sure.
