Best game of the year for the Lady Raiders winning 77-55!!!

Tarr leads with 25 and Greenwalt has a monster night 19 points, 11 rebounds! This is the best team effort I've seen all year. Nice job ladies, you deserve it after all you've been through this year.

Tech held LaToya Thomas to 15 points. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

When Thomas started to "heat up," Marsha put in Cisti to guard Thomas. Let me tell you that Thomas probably had 2 more points after Cisti started guarding her and they were free throws! The freshman did an AMAZING job guarding the AA. Then, Casey Jackson took the AA to the hole! Cisti and Amber did an amazing job, but like Ryan Hyatt said, "it was total team effort despite Cisti and Amber scoring the points." Great effort Lady Raiders, now on to Idaho!! Go Lady Raiders!!!

Tarr and White refused...absolutely refused to let this team even think about losing. MSU got within 8 in the 2nd half only to be stunned by a Tarr 3 pointer and a wonderful defensove topper. Our White did a fabulous job on their Tan White..frustrated her all night. LaToya Thomas was held to 15 points...10 pts below her average and world of frustration.

The coaches did a terrific job of keeping a combination going that kept MSU in check. LaTosha Daniels did a nice job in the 1st half when both White and Perkins had a couple of fouls. As Press said Cisti and Tarr did a great job...but it was a total team effort and that team included the coaches and the fans...a 8,500+ turnout but probably the most enthusiastic and most involved crowd of the year.

Believe me, I didn't miss that stat. Greenwalt is a great asset for the Lady Raiders. This is really good for the Big 12 to get the perceived weaker teams hosting, Texas and Tech, into the Sweet 16.

Just got a chance to watch the tape and it was almost as good as being there again. This is the team that I saw beat Vandy and the team we and they all knew they could be. They moved well without the ball and even better with the ball. Set up screens, blocked out under the offensive boards and got some key stickbacks. Most importantly they hung in there when MSU cut it to a 7 pt game and Thomas started lighting it up. They kept their composure, Tarr knocked down a three and off they went.

Tarr was everywhere...grabbing lose balls, shooting threes (and converting a four point play), grabbing boards. Cisti fought..and fought and fought. All that work with Lance and the blocking pads has really payed off...man what a player that woman is going to be! Jia made some terrific steals and shots.

Casey Jackson was awesome on boards, made some key baskets.

Candi was a warrior..had the "foul" of the game. She was grabbed by Tan White by the shorts who hung on and twisted Candi's short's clear around and then Candi got called for the foul trying to get away. Candi clearly "fouled" Tan...but she didn't twist her shorts around all by herself..

Our reward...a trip to beautiful Idaho and a potential meeting with OU.

I saw Sherri being interviewed on Sunday nite after the brackets were announced and she made the comment that she didn't know how in the world she would be able to keep her team focused, there is just so much to do in Boise, Idaho...... http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Actually, they do have a river Boise.....guess one could always jump in if the play on the court is not so hot.

Chipper, I have to admit I'm in a state of serious sleep deprivation due to game times and traveling, but is there a code for your post? I don't get it - =)! Thanks.

http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif Now you know, some people might make that joke about the whole state of Oklahoma. A UCSB fan, posted a question about what in the world one could do in Austin from Friday night to Sunday night. I guess he didn't hear about the annual South by Southwest music festival which was going on. We in Austin thought the festival was world famous.

Austin and Boise both have their own charms...but I'd certainly love to be in Boise next weekend...I'm sure I could find a few things to do.

Well as long as you asked; You could ski at Bogus Basin (quite good) or go to the Warhawk Air Museum. (WW1 & WW2 war planes) If those don't get you perhaps you could team up with Stacey Dales and take her to the Ultimate Bridal show. Have I got you yet? How about a trip to Firebird raceway to see dragracing? OK, OK, I'm just a guy you know. There is an art museum that if I remember right, is reasonably well thought of. Hey! how about a garden & flower show. Nope wrong timing. OK, maybe you could find a good coffee shop with access to the internet so you could give us reports from the scene. I'd like that.

While the Lady Raiders did play an outstanding game, I question the quality of the opposition. Miss. St just wasn't very good. Now... sometimes a great opponent can make a very good team look average (see OU vs TTU circa 2002). So maybe, Tech's outstanding play made Miss St look average.

I have been a bit frustrated by Cisti's shot selection and general composure in a pressure situation in the paint this season. Sunday night she showed me that she can someday be a star. She ran the break like Angie Braziel did so many times, beating EVERYONE down the floor for an easy layup. She had some pretty turn around jumpers. She was composed. She continued her outstanding rebounding. Her free throw shooting is becoming the best on the team. That little girl is *growing up* and I'm all http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/biggrin.gif about her future.

Also, I was so happy for our seniors, especially Amber Tarr who missed senior night at the end of the season with a bad back. Ellison has a career night in round 1 and Tarr ties her career scoring high in round 2 in her last game at the USA. Maybe even better than that, Candi White, the 3rd senior had outstanding defensive games and played some of the best of her career. Was that girl happy or what?

Awhile back I think somebody mentioned that Cisti might step up and have a big performance against a non-conference opponent in the NCAA tourney.

Who was that clown?

Sure wish I were going, KSUron, but my time has limited me to San Antonio, a 7 hour drive south....

you mean they have computers AND the internet in Idaho?... http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
just kidding. Actually, a Pepperdine player is from Oklahoma and all her teammates are from California, imagine the culture shock. The teammates just couldn't believe she didn't live in a cow pasture..... http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif And we don't ALL drive horse and buggies.

I do think you could get a horse/buggy ride in Idaho, I seem to recall seeing something on a website about it....

I know what you mean swok. Finding out how little some folks know about the rest of the country was a revelation to me. When my wife and I moved from Nebraska to Miami it was amazing to us how little knowlege of the rest of the country easterners had. Most of them did not have a clue where Nebraska was but if they "knew" anything it was that we grew corn. Many of my co-workers at the hospital and fellow students at the University of Miami were from the New England area, including Boston and New York City. When Nebraska or Oklahoma would come down for the Orange Bowl the questions they asked were incredible. At first I thought they were kidding me. I came to realize that most were not. They would actually ask questions like Is it safe to travel out there or are indians a concern? Or, Do you have television? I confess that after I realized that while some would joke, many were just uninformed and ripe for leg pulling so I'm afraid we made up some serious lies. In the absence of knowlege those folks were sooo gullible.

When we lived in Enterprise Oregon we had the fun of telling companies in other parts of the country (including Portland) that they could ship goods to LaGrande, Oregon and they would send it on up to Enterprise on the stage. (There was no law that required us to tell them the "stage" was the name of the local bus line.) It has been my experience that there are some uneducated "hicks" in the country but if you want to meet some REAL coloquial "HICKS" you need to go to the city and the North East is the best place to start. California is probably well in the running also.

I spent the summer of '91 in Maryland - specifically on the campus of the University of Maryland. I was working under a scientist at the Goddard Lab that had a degree from Harvard. The first day we met, he had me and several other people over for dinner and so I had no clue as to the type of humor this individual may have - or not have as was the case. After finding out I was from Oklahoma he asked if we still used stage coaches to get around and if we had problems in dealing with the Indians. At first I was so flabergasted I just stared at him with my mouth wide open. Then after a few seconds I surmised (incorrectly) that it must be his incredibly dry sense of humor. Instead, a co-worker of his had to set him straight while trying not to laugh himself off his chair.

Truly unbelievable the image that the Great Plains states have around our own country.

Wish I'd done as you did KSUron - could have told some whopper stories all night long - and left him with his mouth wide open.

I can better this...I'm from New Mexico. I've had Texans in Dallas talk to me about the wonderful beaches in New Mexico.

I've had people in Tennessee tell me that I spoke great English for a foreiger.

People in Mississippi tell me that I didn't look like a "Mexican" and ask me if one of my parents were "white".
