33-30 at half. Katie very uncharacteristic cold on 3's. Both coaches probably feel your comment about getting something put together. Still think NU's bench could be difference.

I expected katie to have a great game. I never did figure Dionne out. She didn't do as much as expected against OU. She killed a lot of people. I wonder if the physical game bothers her.

I had been looking forward to this matchup for a couple of weeks. Nebraska is a team that can beat New Mexico, but only if they are into the game.

This was a great win for the program. It was hard to tell after the first 2 games. ASU looks really good from top to bottom so it was hard to know for sure how the Huskers could play. FAU is really an unknown. They had a good season last season, but it was hard to gauge what the Huskers would be capable of tonight from last night's game. The Huskers just hung tight and when we needed a push we got it from our veterans. But we got some really solid minutes from other players as well. TK LaFluer didn't show up real big in the stats, but she was a key to getting this win. Ashley Ford played well as did some of the other players.

"We are going to play a lot of Top 25 teams, and we are going to have to beat some of them....This may be only November, but wins like this help you in March." -- Connie Yori
By Connie, I THINK YOU'VE GOT IT!

Kelsey Griffin 17 points 12 rebounds
Kiera Hardy 16 points NICE!!!
Jelena Spiric 15 poinst NICE!!!!

OVERALL OUTLOOK: What March Do You Want? This team gave the right answer today. We made plays, took away their best option and out veteran leadership showed throug. We have work to do. We need to execute better on offense and we need that consistent effort from our backcourt. But I'll tell you, we keep the desire we had today and build on it we will win many of those top 25 engagements we will see this year. The Husker team that played today wouldn't have been Arizona State's chumps. GREAT JOB, MY LASSES, GREAT JOB!

South Dakota state 72
Middle Tennessee state 61

Maryland had trouble with Middle Tennessee?

Hardy and Griffin are so explosive for Nebraska that they will beat some good teams. I was about as impressed by Kelsey as I was by some much bigger names last year.

There you go, Chipper, that's the road or neutral top 25 win you've been pining for. Loved the fight in your team today, I think there must have been some serious soul-searching after the ASU game.

I predicted fourth place for the Huskers this year, and I'm sticking with it. Looks like the games at USC and NC State are probably your most challenging remaining non-conference games. Those won't be easy but are winnable, and winning them would give the Huskers a lot of credibility going into conference season.

I was able to catch most of the last half during my commute home. Lobo's free throw shooting (or lack there of) killed them.

Hats off to the Huskers! Coach Flan still believes that Nebraska should be in the Top 25.

"There you go, Chipper, that's the road or neutral top 25 win you've been pining for.

To get to where we need to go, we'll need more than just one win..and we're still 0-1 in road games. Today's win doesn't excuse our uncompetitive effort on Friday vs. Arizona State.

"Coach Flan still believes that Nebraska should be in the Top 25.

Coach Flan is living in Never Never Land if he believes that right now. Win the rest of the non-conference table then beat Texas in Austin, and then I'll agree with him.

Today was a good win, but the goal isn't a good win. The goal is the NCAAs.

CELEBRATION OVER. Cal State Fullerton is the next victim.

It's a sick habit I'll have to see about breaking. No more comments from me on Nebraska.

Bball Girl - your comments are indeed appreciated! The Huskers played like a top 25 team tonight (and last night for that matter). Arizona State played like a top 5 team in this tournament. They have the ability to make even good teams (like New Mexico State and Nebraska) look to be not so good. Quite frankly, I think Coach Flan is right - the Huskers are a top 25 team in my book too!

Could you tell me exactly where I was antagonistic to your show of sportmanship?

I thought my team played a fine game in beating New Mexico, but I don't agree we are a top 25 team yet. That's all that was said.

We beat a good team today and the kids should be proud. But one outing deserves a poll spot? No, it doesn't.

Keep playing like we did today and we'll be in the polls, and more importantly in the Field of 64.

Great win for the Huskers. I had a really good feeling about this game after Yori repeatedly said what an important game it was. Can't wait for Friday night, hopefully we can put Fullerton away early and let the freshmen get a lot of playing time.

Hardy, Spiric, and Griffin will be one of the most explosive (and underrated) trios in the nation this year. Griffin has All-American potential (Liz Shimek Jr.), Kiera has the ability to completely take over and singlehandedly change the game (i.e. end of the first half vs. UNM), and at times Spiric can be ridiculously effective...you can see why she contemplated offers to play professionally in Europe.

We still have A TON of work to do however. UNM didn't shoot the ball very well today or else they probably would've pulled this game out. We have some very tough games coming up and I expect us to be 100% better by the time we play our next ranked Pac-10 team at their place (USC in their new arena). And that goes without mentioning the ultra-competitive Big 12. It seems like the league has only lost 2 games so far, Colorado lost to top 25 Vanderbilt and Kansas lost to a solid Iowa team, but both games were very competitive. Nebraska will have to be much improved from last year just to finish above .500 in the league this year.

Keep playing like we did today and we'll be in the polls, and more importantly in the Field of 64.Maybe I'm alone on this Chipper, but to me your tendency to respond in what appears to be a defensive manner to complimentary statements made by others doesn't serve your interests well. We can't see your intensity or guess your mood when you respond. No body clues, no eye contact, no nothing.

You have repeatedly emphasized that just getting a certain number of wins isn't good enough to dance, that you need validation wins over top 25 teams away from home to gain the respect of the selection committee.

Since you can't get from here to there without wins away from home against good teams, then "the field of 64" is a mere concept. Taking the right path in order to there is what is important, as you have stated. Losing to bad teams at home hurts, beating good teams away from home helps. I don't blame someone for feeling a bit like you triivialized a complement to your team by the way you phrased your reply.

Like I said, I made be alone in my perception of this, but I think you'd be better off if you toned down the intensity a bit. Not on your posts, but your replies to others. We know you are huge fan of the Huskers, and I think we all like that in all the posters here.
