Everyone is undefeated and hopeful of a good season. I see the Sisters start practice Saturday. I haven't seen any reports of a public shoot-around event involving men and women - is that latter?

Good to hear the Cyclones will start practice with a healthy and deep group.

I expect a big finish to the regular season when ISU comes to Lubbock. And I'm always thankful for those years when they must come to Tech.

Hope both ISU and Tech can finish 2007 without the terrible injuries that limited their seasons last year.

Amen, DblT, Amen. I absolutely hate to see any of the young ladies get injured irregardless of whether they're a Lady Raider or not. Can hardly wait for Oct. 31--our first preseason game.

I have heard nothing about the Cyclone Tip-off or Shootout or whatever they called it last. Maybe they're not having one this year at all. Rather strange that they would wait until the last minute to say anything about it if it IS going to happen... If I hear anything, I'll post something about it.

There is lots to be excited about in Ames & Lubbock this year. I see both teams in similar positions. Both have coaches that are too good to let these teams not be a significant hurdle for the opponent every game.

CyRox, I've read that some teams are going to a fan event about a week off from the start of practice. But you would think they would have already announced it even if the date is delayed.

I talked to someone from the National Cyclone Club at one of the football events and they said that they will not be holding the tip off event this year. A combination of the Hilton Renovations and the earlier start to the regular season did not make it feasible to do this year. Having been to it the last couple of years I think that it had kind of run it's course anyways and was not nearly the event and did not have near the interest of 5-6 years ago.

What renovations are they making at Hilton?

There are new scoreboards/video boards being installed as well as some seating-related changes. This article summarizes it well:

3 years ago, OU started doing their bash the same weekend as Homecoming and started a contest amongst the frat and sorority houses of a dance squad routine. Guess that's what you call them. It does bring out the students and they are LOUD.

It may have run it's course to some but I was looking forward to it this year with the women's team set for a special season and the men's team under a new start with McDermott I think there is an higher anticipation for ISU basketball especially with the football team tanking AGAIN.

I believe the video was made back in late September

The old scoreboard came under much scrutiny when fans found out that it didn't actually have the game score on it.

Ok, that was funny.

New practice gym, locker rooms, coaches offices, suites.... sounds like a major renovation project. In fact, they are spending about what it cost to build the United Spirit Arena so it should be like a brand new facility when they are done.

On the videos: Ahhhh - a new ribbon display around the arena.
