What shouldn't be lost in that report is the visit by Baugh now scheduled for October......

The national scouting director and another scout from Hoopgurlz have made some comments on the insider women's board. They are interesting.

There is the thought that Danielle Robinson, Stefanie Gilbreath, and Vicki Baugh may be a package. They just hadn't expected that package to end up at OU. It appeared to be headed to USC.

I hope its a package. Wouldn't Briana Gilbreath be included in that package, albeit a year later?

btw, weren't the paris twins part of a supposed "package", where they came here instead of Cal??

Sherri always said that the Twins would go together......

early on, it was always said that the Paris Twins and Erika A. were a package deal, but she always said it would be rare to see all three, though was certain the Twins were staying together.

I've heard that Briana is following her sister, but look no further than the Waner situation to see how tenenous recruiting can be. I'm glad Sherri has lots of hair, I would have pulled all mine out long ago.

There was some thought that Erika Arriaran and the twins were headed to the same school. Erika introduced the twins to OU, for which we will be eternally grateful.

The national scouting director for Hoopgurlz said that Stefanie is a good possibility while Vicki is a possibility. Nobody is certain about Vicki, and Tennessee has been confident that they have her in the bag. Briana is, indeed, a package with Stefanie, almost certainly.

Apparently, Danielle has a lot of influence with Vicki, as do the twins. Vicki is being pulled in a lot of directions.

This is essentially a San Francisco pipeline. Abi is from the LA area, but everyone else from California is from the San Jose, San Francisco area.

We may need the Beach Boys to sing to the California Girls at halftime. But, the Dust Bowl took them to California. Sherri is bringing them back.

Actually, I thought I read that the twins and a couple of california girls were all going to go to Cal together and "turn it around". Then when the twins committed to OU, the other 2 Cal girls were surprised. They ended up going to Cal anyway.

From what I have read, California got out of the race for the twins rather early by firing a coach that the twins liked. I have no proof. I saw it on a message board.

Subsequent to that time, the twins never had anything to do with California.

I recall first hearing about the twins and Erika back in 2004. I was actually having a "discussion" about which I would rather have if we couldn't have all three.

1) a top rated point guard
2) a hoss type of center :D

I went with the center. ;)

So, I didn't even hear about the other Cali girls until after Courtney and Ashley had verballed. I recall reading about the "deal" in a "shock article" by one of the other players who did end up at Cal. If Cal's coaching situation had been more stable  it might have been a different ballgame. The Twins were huge fans of the California program.

The twins have an older brother who played for is or playing for California. David Paris is a 6-8, 260 Senior at UC-Berkeley.

I think Sherri made the comment that she could find all of the guards that she wanted in a 250 mile radius of Norman. She just needed to go to California to find a center since there aren't that many big girls in the Oklahoma area.

Then, of course, she went to San Jose to pick up a point guard.

I think women's basketball is still in the developmental stage where size is more critical than outside play. It seems that Anne Donovan is right. The teams that have the best centers usually win. If not, they get a long way into the tournament. Maybe it isn't a center, but it is usually a big girl. There were some big girls in the Final Four in the past two years.

In any event, you have to take a Courtney, no matter who is available. Dominance under the boards can win a lot of games. We saw that with Texas. They just beat us to death under the boards with pure size.

Sherri is beginning to build something bigger than what I had anticipated. If OU were to get Gilbreath and Baugh along with Roethlisberger and Robinson, that would be an awesome group to add to Abi, Amanda, and Nyshia. Sherri seems to like Jenna, Rosie, and Jenny, too.

From what I have read, California got out of the race for the twins rather early by firing a coach that the twins liked.I remember clearly and my memory says that at the time I thought the source was reliable, that the twins asked the AD IF the coach would be there next (now last) year and the answer wasn't the one they wanted to hear (my memory says it was a type of "no comment" answer). I have the impression that USC was still under consideration after that but not nearly as solid a contender as they had been.

You're right. I can recall that now that you have clarified it.

Has Vicki Baugh ruled out Baylor? I think she would be great in the Lady Bear program. I thought BU was one of her serious choices.

I don't think Vicki Baugh has ruled on anything yet. But, it is strongly suspected that she might end up at Tennessee, Stanford, or, now, OU. That is firmly written in melting butter.
