Both teams shooting lights out, Villanova will cool down, and OU will dominate.

Villanova has cooled down, LaNeishea has 18 points in the first half.

Goodbye, Wildcats!

Hello, TEXAS TECH LADY RAIDERS!!!

Villanova hit 7 of its first 11 3-pointers and then cooled off. But then made a late charge down the stretch to cut it to 12 points before OU won 66-53.

Villanova clearly played better than what I saw on Saturday. Apparently they really play differently depending on who their competition is. They could really clamp down on Pepperdine and really slow the game down and they did it. Against OU, they did some very nice things against our man-to-man and found wide open 3s in the first half and took them even though the shot clock had not run down yet.

With both teams hot, OU was able to score 42 first half points. OU cools off a bit in the 2nd half and they only get 24 points.

Caton has got to keep from fouling and it seemed that OU had too many turnovers, but the final tally was only 12. That's surprising to me. They had a lot of turnovers in transition, so maybe its the kind Coale can feel okay with.

Next up is Tech. I hate having to play a team for a third time on the season. Should obviously be a great game.

I do, too........though OU did play Oklahoma State 3 times and Baylor 3 times.

The OU/Villanova game was one that felt closer than the score at times...but they way those girls can score the 3 ball, just knew never to back down. I think Villanova played really good defense, weren't they primarily in a zone all evening? Certainly had Dales frustrated at times.

I loved that OU play in the second half that they stole from Villanova's playbook from the first half, perfect.

Funny little observations: Caton Hill was able to tie her shoe TWICE before the Villanova offense got down the floor. Rosalind Ross kept looking at Sherri Coale in one possession......with a look like, "I can get this ball; you really want me to sit out here 4 feet away?"......classic, she could hardly keep herself in one place. Sherri Coale had Dionnah Jackson play "stall ball" on a possession; these OU girls are so funny, they only know 1 speed, FAST.......so when Coach Coale slows them down, they almost act like they have ants in their pants.

The seniors did get their send-off, though with less than a minute in the game.

The attendence I saw was 11,245. If that's right I think we need about 5,340 from ISU to hit the million. Way to go OU. Keep on going!

The OU attendance is another new record......

most fans to watch a women's basketball game in the state of Oklahoma. They seem to have broken that record three years in a row now, hmmmmm....think we can add 500 more seats next year.

The boxscore on ESPN is showing 7621 in Ames. CONGRATS, looks like we just went over the million mark in the last possible game! That was close.

I was just getting back to say the same thing. WOW talk about cutting it close. I hope we are right on the numbers. It would be kind of Kool!

Okay I'm going to ask a real stupid question.
Who is Toby Keith? http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/confused.gif

Just got home from the game (drove through some nice showers both going and coming. Ugh).

Villanova may not be the most athletic bunch around, but they are very fundamentally sound and early on were hitting some big shots. They pass well and didn't seem to have many turnovers at all.

Great crowd tonight--they really got into it for most of the game.

We saw Stoops, Sampson, and Castiglione sitting together, but I missed Toby Keith.

Toby Keith is a country singer. Can't think of any songs (not a country fan) but he did do an anti-trash/litter jingle for the state of Oklahoma a few years back. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Also saw a few players from the men's team there (Detrick and ? we couldn't figure out who the other one was).

Oh--and does anyone know what (if anything) was wrong w/ Stacy's left hand? She seemed to be favoring it a little the 2nd half and it was taped.

Nice to see Kate Scott get minutes (just a few) again. She seems like she's good to give some of the others a breather--she doesn't make many mistakes and plays pretty hard.

Dionnah Jackson can jump! We couldn't believe some of the rebounds she pulled down over the taller girls. She did have a few TO's in transition that she usually doesn't make.

OK, those are all random thoughts. I'll quit rambling now and head to bed.

Way to go Big 12! 5 in the Sweet Sixteen. Now let's get 4 in the Elite Eight.

I even recognized Toby Keith when he came into the arena and I absolutely abhor country music. He is the one of many that has done a commercial for 10-10-220. He does it with Terry Bradshaw - in the one where I think they play poker.

Hollis Price was there, I don't know that I would have recognized Toby Keith had someone not pointed him out.....and I thought he was a football player, to show you how much I care about country music http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif He was sitting down with the rest of the bunch in Sampson, Castiglione and Stoops and the Borens.

Molly Boren has become quite the womens bb fan; she came to a game and sat next to us last year in OU vs BU. She asked if this team OU was playing was any good, we let her know she was in for a treat http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
