View Full Version : Minnesota 37, North Carolina 36 at half...
the Gophers were red hot out of the locker room, taking a 21-7 lead over the Tar Heels early, but foul trouble and a plague of reckless and selfish play, combined with good teamwork for Carolina, have trimmed the lead to a single point at the half.
Brenda Oldfield must calm her troops down and one, get them to look for the open player; two, to play within the offense; and three, to play smarter basketball in the second half.
If they don't do these things, Carolina will win going away.

I'll really hoping that Minnesota can win because I would rather see them in Ames than North Carolina. I don't like the North Carolina coach. I know she has done a lot for women's basketball and we should thanks and respect her but I don't. I didn't like the way she treated our subs at the end of game by putting in her starters and putting on the full court press.
Whoever wins, if they don't pick up their execution, they are one-and-done in the next round. Minnesota has barely put a body on Sutton, the 6-6 center for the Heels.
And UNC has shown disturbing lapses of concentration (as has Minnesota) throughout the game. Basically, I think either team would be lunchmeat for any of the top 6 in the Big XII.

This game is getting ugly.
Wow, Teasley has a busted-up finger on her shooting hand, and is definitely in pain!
Bad news for the Heels.

Prince is no match for Sutton.

That happened two years ago, and Hatchell is still a dirty word in Ames. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif She'd probably be booed during introductions Saturday if UNC wins this game. I know Fennelly has never been as mad at an opposing coach during a game as he was then.

I'm not sure if it is because I want Minnesota but it sure seems that the calls are going North Carolina's way.

What a heart breaking game.

Well, there was a lot of effort, but a lot of the execution on both sides was out of kilter.
UNC will need dramatic improvement in days in order to avoid becoming a sixteen snack.

Go Coretta Brown! Am I the only one that wanted UNC to advance? Brown's on my team!

Yup! You are on your own with that one.

I have Teasley, but I also have MN's Von Wald, so either way I lose one.
