...and we still lost. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/frown.gif

Drake played the perfect game. They controlled the tempo of the game, which isn't easy to do on the road, especially against a crowd like last night.

From a WBB fan, it was a great game to watch. 20 lead changes, numerous ties, and it came down to one open look that didn't go down. But from a BU perspective, it was stressful and heartbreaking! I can't blame Stratton for taking the shot. Like Mulkey said, if she makes it, she's a hero. I'd rather have seen her work the clock and get a quality possession and put the ball in the hands of one of the go-to players, but it was still a good shot.

The Lady Bears came out tight from the start and just didn't have it goin' on tonight. This was one of those instances where playing in front of the home crowd actually HURT US more than helped us. On the road or on a neutral court, they would have been more at ease, but when you have home court, it must be taken advantage of, and this loss just kills.

Funny thing about the NCAA's, the better team doesn't always win. You just have to play better on that particular night. Otherwise, one bad game and you're toast. Drake played a great game and I hope they go far. As for our 4 seniors, I'm sure there were enough tears shed to flood the locker room.

It's been a great season. The crowds have been great. I look forward to seeing what Mulkey can do in the future, but I know that we just lost 2 Seniors that simply cannot be replaced. I might not ever see another Sheila Lambert again. Their candles went out well before they should have in the tourney, and that's part of why this loss hurts so bad, as well.

Good luck to the rest of the Big 12 teams. I'll be cheering for ya.

Very, very well said Big 12. I'll be certain to follow Lambert and Crockrum in June in the WNBA. Hate to see these seniors go out like this.

This is, so far, the best game I've seen of the whole tourney.

Definitely understand what you are saying Big12Bear. OU was very tight last year as it was the first time for them to host in front of more fans than they were used to. Lots of pressure to perform well.

Really feel for Crockrom and Lambert and McCormack and Collins as seniors. You just know they were crushed after that loss. Not easy to take especially when you are the higher seed. Losing to Washington was not fun last year at all.

I think Blackmon has really progressed and she will be very good to dominating in this league in a couple of years. Don't know who Baylor will have at the point next year, but Stratton and Blackmon will be two of the better players.

When ESPN cut into the Baylor game, I never did see McCormack much at all, if at all. Was she in foul trouble? Surprised she wasn't banging against Carla Bennett inside. Baylor just had no answer for her at all.

Don't know much about South Carolina, but I will definitely be rooting for Drake. I hope that Drake gets to match up with Duke (only if Duke beats Texas of course) because I think Duke would also have a hard time stopping Bennett inside as long as Bennett plays like she did last night.

Otherwise a Stephens versus Bennett matchup would be great to see. And then I would definitely be rooting for the Longhorns to get some revenge on behalf of the Bears.

I remember several years ago when it looked like UT was finally on the way back. They had a number 3 seed. Then they lost to Notre Dame on St. Patricks Day. The score was 86-83. It was a see saw affair from the get go. I didn't recover for days. The tournament is just so different. And teams like Drake can just show up feeling no pressure. I feel you pain. But there is always next year and the next and the next, etc. Remember all the great wins and the fun they provided for you.

I really thought Baylor could beat Duke in the east. I think YCN's analogy is a good one; OU was tight last year and did not play well in the tournament. Baylor will be back next year even without Lambert and Crockrom. Unfortunately for the Big 12 south, we haven't heard the last of them!

BTW, when I went to the men's final four in Kansas CIty in 1988 where OU lost the championship game to Kansas, I remember waking up the next morning. I think that is the toughest because you try to believe it was just a bad dream...
