I am still shocked over this game. Just an initial thought. It was VERY obvious that Drake took a close look at the film of Angie Welle scoring 36 on Baylor up in Ames. It was like you were watching the same play over and over as they lobbed the ball over the top to Bennet.

Here's my question, how good of a job did Baylor do preparing for Drake? It looks a little like they were relying on their athleticism to carry them through. I don't think I saw Baylor try to double team Bennet more than a couple of times. They had to have known that Schmitz and Bennet were the go-to players for Drake, but seemed totally unable to stop them.

Perhaps a classic case of looking past a team, as there was no way, on paper, Drake wins this game.

cyco, I was thinking the exact same thing. Watching Carla work around Crockrum reminded me of Welle. All the credit to Drake, I saw it was close in the second half, but I just kept waiting for Baylor to run away with it. Hey now if only ISU and Iowa can win tomorrow, the state will have 3 teams in the Sweet 16! ISU I have confidence in, for Iowa, it's gonna take a miracle.

How does film exchange work? Do you suppose ISU sent a tape to Waco and one down to Des Moines?

I think teams just call and request them. Baylor probably looked at the film of the MVC Championship game against Creighton. Drake didn't have their best game that night. Also if Baylor looked at the ISU/Drake game for comparison, it could have been very deceiving.

I'm just plain mad. We got out-coached, out-played and out-everything! Cyco, you hit the nail on the head. Baylor never made a real attempt to shut down the inside post play of Bennett. There was literally no back-side help and she scored at will. I kept sitting there thinking that Baylor would wake up and go on a scoring run. I felt that the game was in jeopardy in the first half when the inside defense stunk. At half time, I expected to see adjustments, but there weren't any. What a sad loss for the talented seniors on the Baylor team!
