Two points:

1) Tennessee is playing very well. If ISU beats BYU, they'll have their hands full this weekend.

2) Sorry Baylor fans. I'll root for Baylor against most non-BigXII teams, but my heart tonight is with the sisters half-an-hour south of ISU.

For anyone who didn't see this game, it was a classic. Drake's margin of victory was the largest that any team had for at least the portions of the game I saw.

An additional boo-hiss to the local television channels in Des Moines who didn't feel that the Drake win was worthy of a lead story on the 10:00 news. They led with a flop of a St. Patrick's day festival at the state fairgrounds.

Drake has never gotten the coverage that they deserve from the local media.

It's good to see Drake get some recognition. I'm kinda surprised the ESPN commentators are so unaware of Drake and its capabilities -- I think Carla Bennett is a great center and I'm not surprised she pulled out this game. Same with Schmidt. Drake has great potential and I hope they go far. They've been playing just at the fringe (~30 in nation) for a few years and they deserve some success.

I am another somewhat embarrassed Big 12 fan in Iowa who, tried as I might, found that I could NOT root against Drake in the final minutes. Stephanie Schmitz is as classy and gutsy a player as you'll find anywhere, and Carla Bennett is one of the finest posts in the country. Anyway, four out of five isn't bad for the Big 12.

I had the opportunity to meet Stephanie in a restaurant a couple years ago, and found her to be delightfully pleasant, down-to-earth, and quite humble. I wish her and her team the best of luck.
