What a game. I think someone posted that the tickets were $17.00. With the two games they saw it was money well spent.

I wish Fox would be covering the games then I would be able to see them without an extra charge.
HOORAY FOR THE SENIORS!!!!
With the youngsters struggling tonight and the Green Bay zone packing it in against Stacy, Conradt went to the seniors for the answer tonight and boy did they come up big. This group which had never won an NCAA game did it tonight! Asha Hill was huge. UWGB was a tough, scrappy, PHYSICAL, well-coached team which obviously had done their homework on Texas and knew that the book on the Horns is to pack in the zone on the inside and dare us to hit the jumpers. It almost worked, too. That is until Asha decided to have her best offensive showing since - well - since her freshman season. 4 of 4 from behind the arc and 2 of 2 from the line. Tracy Cook was clutch from the free throw line, Dana Godfrey gave some quality minutes, and Kenya was her usual spark-plug self. Keep shooting it, Kenya, make 'em pay!
I'm very impressed by UWGB, who gave a heroic effort. Great to see us win another close one. What did I tell ya'll after the Big XII tourney? This team has "bounce-backability". We really struggled offensively, but still got the win.

UC Santa Barbara has always proved to be a very good tourney team;
I watched them play Purdue on Purdue's home court last year in a VERY close game........kudo's to them for knocking off a Top 10 opponent, yea right....... http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/wink.gif LA Tech finally plays "someone" and they get kicked out on their butts......I had Texas beating La Tech in my bracket......I've never thought this La Tech team was as good as teams from the past.

Well, except for two years ago when they lost on their home court to Rice (the #13 seed) in the first round.

UCSB played Purdue tough but it wasn't on Purdue's home floor, it was a neutral site (Indianapolis's CONSECO fieldhouse) Purdue campus is in West Lafayette and they play in Mackey Arena. UCSB is a very good team, I actually picked them to advance to the sweet 16 in posts here a while ago! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001284.html
I don't why Texas struggled against UWGB, but if they don't show up again UCSB will send them packing. BTW, UCSB also lost to Penn St by a couple of point at home, the same PSU team that Beat Texas early in the season, UCSB/Texas will be a great game.

Swok, my bad!
May be you were talking about last yr's Tournament and UCSB was purdue's first round opponent at Mackey Arena and you are right the game was very close. Purdue played UCSB this season as well Dec 15 in Indy and that's what i thought you were talking about, sorry!
It was observing when and where UCSB lost this season that made me pick them to beat La Tech.
They haven't lost at all since December, and the closest game during that stretch, except for the La Tech game, was a 6 point win at Oregon State.

That's the game I was talking about, Dingo.......great game.
I've never cared for UCSB since Mark French dyed his hair blond 2 years ago for the tourney......... http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif And I was never really crazy about the point guard they had playing then, can't think of her name.....she did go to the WNBA year before last and may still be there.

Stacy Clinesmith, currently back-up point guard for the Sacramento Monarchs.

HOORAY FOR THE SENIORS!!!!
I thought at the beginning of the season that while the media and fan focus was on the youthful talen, the seniors were going to be key for Texas this season. I felt that it was up to Stacy and the seniors to keep the team steady and determined through the long conference season. In some ways, it was good to see the seniors have their night in such a big way. Now we desparately need Heather and/or Kala to wake up and start playing to their potential again. They are young. The team carries the weight of the program on their shoulders. The legions of Texas fans and alumni are looking to this team to get back to the sweet 16 for the first time since 1990. THIS IS WHY THESE PLAYERS WERE RECRUITED. Conradt was looking for players who were not only talented but who were leaders on championship teams. She was looking for players were knew how to win.
On a side note, Alisha Sare did not play Friday due to a stomach virus. I haven't read if she will be available tonight. We were missing Sare's shooting ability Friday night.
