View Full Version : The biggest lock for the Sweet Sixteen...
has to be Colorado. Not only is the team playing well right now with a boatload of seasoned veterans, they are playing LSU at home.
Earlier this season I watched the entire CU-LSU game at Colorado's Events Center, and LSU had zero weapons with which to attack Colorado. The Buffs won in a rout, and didn't even have to try hard to do that.
From the perspective of someone who saw these teams match up earlier this year, I would say that LSU's chances are well under 1%.
Even worse for LSU, they only dress 7 players for the game - at altitude.

Did CU and LSU already play twice this season? Because I watched them play each other at the United Spirit arena in Lubbock at the Triple Crown Challenge after Tech played Vanderbilt.
My mistake, DblT81!
It just seemed like a home game the way they just destroyed LSU.
Sorry!

Warning: The Surgeon General has determined that Big 12 overconfidence can lead to embarassment.
Lets not write off anybody. The Jabroni teams are out of the way...Sunday and Monday, its get a lot more real.
One round at a time. We haven't done anything yet.
Oh by the way...Nice Job ODU!!!!! Getting rid of America's dumbest coach and America's dumbest team. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
I'm sorry, but I've got to write off one team, LSU. I watched the earlier game primarily to watch LSU play, and they just can't touch the Buffs. No way.
Well, you do want to remember that LSU has picked up their play as of late, recently knocking off a well-known team from Knoxville.
The biggest problem LSU has is a serious lack of height, meaning there isn't anyone on their team that can stop a very veteran CU team from scoring points in the paint.
The team has to rely on outside shooting to get it done against CU, but CU's guard play is too good for them to get very frequent open looks.
Colorado by at least 20.

This is also the very same Colorado that gave Colorado State a ton of open looks...and remember...Colorado's inside game has the tendency to take games off. Bjorklund's been benched for it. Britt Hartshorn's made a career of it.
Colorado will win this game, but Nightingale and Roulier will really have a lot on them against an aggressive LSU team.
I'll be laughing at everyone's worries after the game tonight.
Of course they DO play the game.

Did anyone watch men's Kansas vs #16 seed? Or today's game vs Duke......????
I'm not writing off a single team until I see a W.
LSU is playing a whole lot better in February than what they did in December or even January.......I'm an old LSU fan, and they did knock off Tennessee in the SEC tourney.
OU is proving that depth and height are over-rated. This LSU team is a scrappy bunch, they did prove "tired" playing Vandy in the SEC Semi.; but they still played respectably and Vandy didn't run away with the farm.......
I'm rooting for Colorado, of course, but I admire the scrap and tenacity this LSU bunch puts forward, especially when there are as many players in street clothes as there are in uniforms.
I think it will be a "good game", myself.

The LSU team that I saw lose to CU in Lubbock was not the same LSU team that beat Tennessee...they actually had 8 players then instead of 7 including their post player who tore her ACL in mid-season. This LSU team doesn't care that they only dress 7 players, they don't care that everyone thinks they can be beat and they have one of the best old guard coaches in country in Sue Gunter who told them they could either tank the season or give it all they had. They did just that against Tennessee.
So, don't sell LSU short in any capacity. This team has heart and passion and that's not a stat you see on paper and its not something you can game plan for either. A complacent CU team may find themselves not on the plane going to Boise.
On the other hand CU has Ceale Barry a coach with the passion of 10 coaches. I believe she'll have the Buffs ready and she won't let them underestimate LSU.
However, IMO the biggest lock for the Sweet 16 is OU.
OK, folks...
If you can't tell that I love stirring up controversy, then you don't know who I am.
Go Bears!
Go Horns!
Go Cats!
Go Sisters!
Go Buffs!
Go Raider!
and especially, GO SOONERS!
I love the Big XII!
