What a way for Spring to begin!

Good thing the basketball tournaments are on for the next few days and my electric and gas bills have been paid! :)
Now, if only I could just find some ambitious kid with a shovel! ;) :D

We have now had 1.6 inches of rain in the past 36 hours and it's still raining heavily. Expecting another 1/2 inch to inch late tonight and tomorrow. We've had more rain the past 36 hours than we have had the past 5 months and 13 days combined.

Hallelujah! for this storm-system.

Yes, parts of the Dallas/Ft Worth area have experienced heavy flooding this afternoon and evening. And more rain is on the way.

The Turtle Creek area, just north of downtown Dallas, flooded and a car was swept away, with a couple of ladies in it. The Lake Highlands area and White Rock Lake, in northeast Dallas had flooding. There was heavy flooding in Arlington, in the area of Six Flags Over Texas, and in Grand Prairie.

Plus several low lying areas around downtown Dallas flooded, just about the time that the NCAA mens' games were over and people were leaving the AA Center on I35.

I hope that anyone who attended the mens' games made their way home safely.

Well, here's hoping for a better day today. Those rains that we've had over the week-end were unbelievable, especially in certain parts. Unfortunately one of the ladies who was in the car that got caught up in flood waters in the Turtle Creek area didn't make it. Both got out of the car and tried to reach safety, but they were swept downstream. One held onto a tree until rescuers reached her; her friend was not as lucky.

There's supposedly a man also still missing.

I took time out from the A&M game last night to watch the 10pm news, and I marvled still yet at photos. Northwest Highway, maybe 2-3 miles east of Central Expressway (US75) was completely under water. Cameras showed a SUV that was completely submerged, with only part of the luggage rack on top showing. It looks like that area (northeast Dallas) and on up through Garland, east Richardson and Mesquite probably got the heaviest rain, estimated at about 10 inches yesterday.
