Does anyone have any more information regarding the rumor that Fennelly is a candidate for the Ohio State job? Based on his reaction it sounds like he is on their "wish list" but hasn't been contacted.

I would think chances are slim and none that he would leave. What are your thoughts?

I don't know if Ohio State would pay Coach Bill a lot more money or not. Salaries are one of the things I know nothing about. From a recruiting standpoint, he'd probably be much more successful (not that he doesn't get fine players now). I would think it would be awfully difficult to leave ISU and the fan base he has built there. But if the money more was SIGNIFICANTLY more, coupled with the recruiting possibilities... I don't know. It would probably be VERY tempting. It sure would be a tremendous loss for ISU if he were to leave.

On the Cyclone Illustrated board, we suspect that Fennelly isn't outright denying any interest in the job because he may want more money from ISU. Some people suspect OSU is willing to put up $400,000 or more, and that's a lot of money. Bill will never leave ISU unless another place offers him a lot more than ISU is willing to. Bill and his wife are both native Iowans, and that is a big factor.

Those were my thoughts too, mred. I heard him say once that he wanted his kids to graduate from Ames High. Perhaps an Elite 8 or better appearance in the coming weeks gets him a nice extension and raise???

At his luncheon today he said that he will be at Iowa State as long as Iowa State wants him. He said no one has talked to him.
