WOW - holding officials accountable! What a great idea!

Minor point: The article said: "Having six players on the floor is an officials' mistake" WRONG - it is a coach's mistake and that is why the officials correctly gave the team a technical.

If a ref hands the ball to a player to start play and a team has 6 players on the court it's the refs fault. If the ball is handed with 5 and 5 and someone comes on the court not refs fault.

As a ref, last checks before you had a ball in- #1) make sure there are only 5 players from each team, falls on all 3 refs. #2) Make sure you are on the correct side of the player... ie...anyone see RU/UCONN the other night and Titis was on the inside of the Rutgers player on a baseline inbounds, another RU kid was going to come out-of-bounds and receive a pass (you all know what I'm talking about) well he was between the ball the other player. As the player came ob she ran into him and blow his whistle. He thought she wanted a TO, which wasn't it at all. He should have been on the outside of the player closet to the sideline. Huge mistake on his part, lucky it didn't cost RU the game. #3) Hand the ball in play, raise your left hand and count with your right, as soon as it's touched, chop the clock back in play!!!!

NOT THAT HARD!!!!

H2H, sounds like you've done this before. Are you a ref? Or do you have past experience as a ref?

I'd just like to give credit to Eastern Washington for scoring despite the 5 vs 6 odds!

Thank you very much, H2H, for clarifying what a referee should do on an inbounds play. :) I hope you'll continue to comment about officials' actions (and inactions).

I thought the same thing and a slight variation.... how come they couldn't stop 5 players with 6?

Scamp, what happened in the RU/UCONN game is as basic as basic gets, that's 101 enter level. The man had to have had a BIG brain fart!!!!
