Sophia Young, Baylor, F, 6-1, Sr, St. Vincent, The Grenadines
The senior forward set the Big 12 career rebounding record and extended it last Saturday with her league-record 57th career double-double. She now has 1,237 career rebounds. In addition, Young needs just 31 points to own the league record for career points

Courtney Paris, Oklahoma, C, 6-4, Fr, Piedmont, Calif.
Paris became the first player in Big 12 history to record 600 points and 400 rebounds in a season last week. The rookie center averaged 18.5 points, 14 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 2.5 steals and two assists in wins over Kansas State and Nebraska. She pushed her season rebound total to 433 boards and is just 11 shy of breaking the NCAA Freshman Single Season record, which has stood for 25 years. The California native also extended her double-double streak to 21 games and her season total to 26

I think it was Tara Lawson who was talking about potential players of the year tonight. She mentioned Poindexter and Latta. Then, she said that it would probably be Courtney if she weren't a freshman. Then, she went on to mention Jessica.

I would like to see Sophia and Courtney both win the POY award...hence let them be co-players of the conference.

Sophia lost out as the conference's Freshman of the Year Award to...you know it...Chelsi Welsh and Erin Grant...co-players.

I would hate to see Sophia lose another conference award. Both ladies deserve it. You can not discount what both meant to their clubs and what both contributed this year in the conference. Both ladies getting in the record books and making our conference stand out nationally in our "down year."

Sophia will probably be drafted 4th or 5th in the nation. Behind Seimone Augustus, Cappie Poindexter, Monique Currie....

The coaches' vote will be interesting...please let it be 6-6.
