I think this is neat. All seven Big XII teams are hosting!!! Now all we have to do is win.

OU #1 in West
Baylor #2 East
Colorado #3 West
Iowa State #3 Mid West
Kansa State #3 Mid East
Texas Tech #4 West
Texas #4 East

The bad thing is three of our teams have to play each other in the west and Baylor and Texas face of in the East. KSU and ISU are alone.

I am soooooo happy!! I'm not surprised that we got to host after YCN and Dblt81 provided some convincing numbers.

In the West, I think OU has a great chance of going to San Antonio. I don't think Stanford can give them any problem at all. In fact, I think Colorado and Tech are OU's main competition in the West.

In the East, Texas will have a game with La Tech. Basically the committee saw that Austin was right there close to Louisiana so that their fans could make it (and I'm sure they will).

ISU will have their hands full with Tenn. in the Midwest, but Tenn. is definately beatable and ISU can make it to the Final Four also. They will get their rematch with Vandy too if they can make it to the elite eight. Definately a winable bracket for ISU, especially at home.

I think in the Mideast, KSU can get all the way to the Elite Eight, but UCONN will be tough.

You know, I actually believe that 3 Big XII teams can make it to the Final Four and what sight that would be! Baylor, OU, and ISU can all get there. Let's hope they make it!

Remember this post (3/9)? Fantasyland can come true!!!!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------
Wait a minute, we're still in fantasyland until Sunday at 5:00ET.
The best way to get three Big XII teams in the final four is to beat TN, Stanford, and Duke. The best fantasy matchup scenario would be OU beating Stanford in Boise (SWOk, you could stay up for that), Baylor beating Duke in Raleigh (That would be a great game and put Baylor on the national radar), and ISU beating Tennessee (LV can't play against a zone and can you imagine the recruiting impact). Guess UConn then needs to take care of Vandy and/or Purdue.

With that you get the Big XII invitational plus UConn in San Anton ...
------------------------------------------------------

Only deviation is that ISU needs to take care of both TN & Vandy. MRed, your gals can do it!!!!! http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

RaiderPower1, I like the way your thinking. I agree that we have a first rate shot at getting AT LEAST one team to the final four. I hope its more.

First things first I hope all of us get to the sweet 16. If we don't get a team to the final four this year we will have only ourselves to blame.

Hey Bark, you don't plan on being mean to KSU do you? I hope we do get a shot at you. It would take some serious effort and good fortune but while we are dreaming why not go for four in the final four?

This tourney should be fun and good luck to you except vs the Big XII.

Here's what WCH.com has said about the selections (hypocrites):

4) The Big 12 may be the best conference in the country, this year (still to be determined) but no way 7 teams deserve to host.

13) Texas got no favors in hosting UCSB, UWGB and La. Tech-all of whom could beat them.

Before today, they said that UT could be "anybody" yet they go and say that anyone could beat UT. I sure hope UT kicks La Tech's a$$.

I think the big XII shows up big time this year and will show everyone what they are made of! Go Big XII!!!!!

KSUron, you're cool. Next year the expectations for a KSU/UConn match up could very well be reversed, and I'd be no different than you.

The Big12 certainly has nothing to complain about. The committee was done just about all they can to help the Big 12 get a team to the final four. Now the pressure is on for teams to show that the conference deserves all these high seeds.

Raiderpower1 In the East, Texas will have a game with La Tech. Basically the committee saw that Austin was right there close to Louisiana so that their fans could make it (and I'm sure they will).
Oh, this is about much more than proximity! This is a revival of an old-time rivalry designed to fill the Erwin Center and gain publicity. Just in case hosting the NCAA is not enough, the thought of playing La Tech should stir the orange blood and get Texas fans who may have lagged lately to dig out the orange gear and get out to the Erwin Center. If La Tech and Texas play, Lieberman, Miller, Voepel, et al will be waxing poetic about storied traditions and winning coaches,... I know I'm excited.

I don't even go over to womenscollegehoops anymore.....just don't have faith in them.

Here's a excerpt from a chat with the chairman.......and yes, you did load the west.....could have at least given a better explanation.

vickie: Is there some reason the committee loaded the Big 12 in the west?

Maryalyce Jeremiah: (9:03 PM ET ) We don't feel it is loaded in the West. There are seven teams in the whole tournament. There are multiple teams from multiple conferences in every region.

I also was ticked off by WCHoops' analysis, and so I sent them this e-mail:

----------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, I need to take you on regarding host seeds. You say La Tech deserved to host, but 7 Big 12 teams did not. Is that based on the record, or just because you believe La Tech to be better than their record?

Because, La Tech (RPI #18) has not a SINGLE win over a team ranked better than 45 in RPI, lost to #47, and in the last week has very nearly gone down to #45 and to #109. All seven Big 12 host teams have won at LEAST four games against top-25 teams, six have RPI's 14 or better and Colorado, which is at #20, has not lost a single game this year to a team ranked worse than #28 -- and they have four wins against top-25 teams. All seven Big 12 teams have at least two wins against top-12 teams, and all except
KSU and Baylor have wins against out-of-conference teams ranked in the top 27. And nobody's likely to argue about a host seed for KSU or Baylor.

Both polls have all seven teams ranked in the top 17 (and that will probably go to 16/17 on Monday). By what criteria would you have Florida International host, and not Texas Tech (as your predictions had it)? Florida International is 0-1 against teams ranked 1-20, 1-2 against teams ranked 21-30, and they are only 2-1 against 31-40. Meanwhile, TTech has beaten #5 Vanderbilt, #8 Baylor, #13 Iowa State, and #14 Texas. And their RPI is virtually identical to Florida International. That's a pretty nice counterbalance to their two "bad" losses -- #65 and #86. Florida International lost to #176!

You seem to be saying, basically, that a very long string of wins against mediocre teams is equivalent to a mixed record against very, very strong teams. Is that the criterion you would use to seed? If so, why?

Just some friendly argument here, not trying to bash you guys. Most of the time I agree with what you have to say.

----------------------------------------------------------------

And swok, although it's true that WCH makes lots of errors (who wouldn't?), they still get an amazing number of predictions almost dead on. I think they're pretty well informed on the whole. I don't really know of any more reliable source, do you?

I think those of us on this site are the most informed about Big XII women's basketball, hands down.

Oops...Colorado did lose to OU.

I quit visiting the WCH site earlier this season as well.
