Does anyone have the numbers? Someone posted on our boards, The B10 with eleven teams had 7169/session while the SEC with 12 had 6981/session. If you have the numbers, thanks in advance!

Wasn't the SEC tourny on Vandy's home court? How about the B10 tourney, was it at a neutral site?
According to psyclone's site, Kansas, K St, Mizzou and Nebraska are the three closest to KC. Those schools were not the bedrock of fan support in the B12 this season. Yes, K St did draw a bunch of fans (free tickets?) in Manhattan, but did they travel to KC?

I don't know about the SEC's tourny, the B10 Tourny was at a neutral site, the new Pacer's/Fever's home (Conseco fieldhouse)in Indianapolis.
How many people have attended the games in KC so far?

4715 - evening March 6 - this figure surprised me thought would be more.

Unlike the B10 or SEC, the Big 12 runs the women's and men's tournaments almost concurrently. Many fan bases were split this year when a men's team and women's team were playing at the same time.
Now, how many fans did the Big 10 draw during the regular season?
The Big 12 Conference established NCAA attendance records
in each of the last two seasons. Last year the conference numbered 880,225 fans for an average of 5,030 - both NCAA all-time highs.
Through February 28, 2002

Actually it was MUCH easier to get free tickets in prior years. For Nicole Ohlde day last year we, as the game sponsor, were able to get and distibute 1,400 free tickets. This year as game sponsor we had to pay for them (low cost) and sell them (low cost) to the Clay Center area fans. This year even with the charge we sold 2,600. (good womens basketball sells tickets) This year you could still get some free tickets through Phillips 66 dealers as a premium for a fill up of gas. All in all though most tickets got paid for this year and most went for full price.
If you look at the attendence for the KSU at NU game you will see it was way above normal. KSU also had around a thousand fans attend the game at OSU etc. Then the capper came with the Game at KU where over 10,000 of the 11,850 or so in attendence (a KU record) were KSU fans. Needless to say those other teams did not give us tickets free, so I think you can say KSU's fan numbers were pretty legit.
For the tourney it was hard for fans to take off work to make the three and a half hour drive each way to KC. I think many were anticipating KSU hosting and wanted to see those games more. I was somewhat dissapointed in the KSU turnout however. On the other hand there were quite a few purple people still around for the OU, BU championship game. It was nice to see the large number of OU fans as well as ISU fans.
