I'm not sure how often she has played lately, but will this affect the team much?

I would think that it couldn't help an already struggling team. Don't know how much it will hurt. Mostly morale I would suspect, but again, for a struggling team, that's a big deal.

I like Judith, she can bring a spark to the offense.
But she often plays like she's more interested in making the "spectacular" shot instead of winning a ball game. So, she'll start jacking up any old shot early in the shot clock and then miss. Her defense is quite poor which is what has kept her off the floor this year. If you jack up poor shot and let your defender make easy baskets then making a spectacular shot here and there doesn't count for much.
I would think she could be pretty mouthy and if you don't produce on the court, that won't cut it with Coach Sharp.
I don't think it will hurt Tech. If she's been causing dissent, then her abscence might help. Knowing Coach Sharp the door is always open and she's willing to work with these kids.
But I hate to see this happen. I think Tech could really use the offensive talents that Judith brings to the team and I feel for her. Also, Tech doesn't need any more noise.

Not until you mentioned it, I went to the Lady Raider homepage which has it's headlines correct.
Darn...Chipper must be loafing off again or just trying to make us *gasp* :D

That's it, everything that goes wrong at ESPN is Chipper's fault. Website, scheduling, announcers, referees, you name it, he's responsible. ;)
Tech's Sharp suspended indefinitely
Now that might help improve CU's chances on Saturday! :D

 I wonder how many coaches would be suspended if their players called the shots!

Sharp should sue for $1 and a VERY public appology about a LIST of stupid editing errors to be determined by a 3rd party review a month's worth of material!

Very interesting... reports from practice yesterday were that the Ladies looked like a whole new team... came into the gym laughing and visiting... excitement and exuberance on the court... looked like a whole new team...

there's been a persistent rumor that Judith Smith and another player were decidedly *not* getting along.
I have a confession to make. Last year during one of the practices I got to watch, while the players were moving around the gym shooting free throws, I heard Judith say something she didn't think anyone heard/noticed. I don't believe she's happy at Tech, and I really don't think it's all a one-way street.

its very possible she wasnt happy at Tech. She probably went because they were a known basketball program and didnt consider things outside of basketball. I'm sure it Texas offered me an academic scholarship (if that happened they'ld be in trouble) I would have taken it for the education, but I'ld probably leave after a semester because I dont drink myself to a stupor, nor do I get along well with extreme liberals. I know there are conservatives there, but the majority of the campus is extrememly liberal. How many schools can you think of that would actively promote that their business school is the top in the nation for gay men to find a husband? I dont care about what you do in private, but that isnt something I'ld like my school announcing.

Well, it's news to me that Lubbock is liberal, even the campus. And I grew up in Lubbock, but that was millions of years ago. :) Good think she didn't come to Austin. ;) I might see this as an issue if she came from a rural town in Texas or the midwest, but Long Beach? Don't really think of California as being a bastion of conservatism.
But I do hope it gets worked out to everyone's satisfaction. I went to a game in Lubbock last year when she played quite a few minutes, and I really enjoyed watching her.

Well there are "liberals" at every university even Texas A&M, it's what we do, it's called "diversity".

I know that we're supposed to be nice to each other, but this post is about the dumbest we've had for a while. Using a player being suspended at Tech as an excuse for taking a swipe at Texas.

Do we have an award for most idiotic post of the month? I nominate Icecream_Ag's 26th post... might wanna take some time to figure out how this board works before you post too many more...

I never saw Tech in my Gay Husband Finder's Guide, guess that one was under the radar, I will definitely see that the publishers know for next year's edition.

Ice Cream Aggie ...
Good lord, cadet, what is your idea of a proper conservative campus? The Vatican?
And if you truly have no better grasp of reality than to consider Lubbock a haven of liberals (Austin is a very tolerant town and in many ways might approach 21st-century "middle of the road" moderation in its politics; because unlike the city fathers out here in 125-rainless-days-in-a-row Lubbock, the planners and movers and shakers in Austin understand that actual clean water is more important than giveaways to industry, the town may survive to the 22d century!) then ... I feel sorry for you, that's all.
With all that said, at last year's Selection Sunday some of the other girls were chaffing Judith good-naturedly about a boyfriend (I think it had been mentioned at one of the run'n'gun sessions too) she had evidently discovered on campus. Should that have gone sour, I can see how someone from California would find Lubbock altogether uncongenial; and as we have seen in other instances, a busted romance sometimes affects a player's life and maybe grades as well.
But this is all speculation -- except that earlier note about a public warning in practice.

I wish we could stick to the topic. It seems highly unlikely that she'll be back at Tech. I wonder where she may transfer to? She's from Long Beach. Maybe Long Beach St?

Maybe she won't transfer, but will try to right the ship and stay with the program. She wasn't dismissed from the team, but just suspended and that means the door is still open.

Most, notice I didn't say all, players who are suspended indefinitely, don't come back to the team.
