Laura Andrews plays for 2A #1 ranked Washington. Just read this in the tourney preview section. Hope it's not the darn ACL again.

"THE FAVORITE
WASHINGTON WARRIORS
Record: 25-2 Ranking: No. 1

Questions abound for Washington. Injured is senior Laura Andrews who
hurt her knee Friday in the area final. Andrews, who signed at Oklahoma,
will not play this weekend. She was averaging 23 points and seven
rebounds per game. Three other starters are averaging more than 10
points per game, led by post player Betsy Simmons, who is averaging a
double- double. The Warriors only two losses this season have come to
Class B champ Dover and to Class 4A's Byng, which Washington beat
later in the season. Washington also has wins against Amber-Pocasset,
Bethel and Prague.

Isn't this the 2nd OU recruit for next year to be injured this season? I sure hope this injury turns out to be minor.

Carolann--yes it is.
6A Westmoore's Erin Higgins tore her ACL earlier in the season.
Here's what Coach Coale has to say about these two:

Coale added speed and quickness to next year's roster by signing
Oklahoma's own Andrews and Higgins. As a junior, Andrews, paced her
team with an impressive 22.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. The
three-time Little All-City first team selection also averaged 5.0 assists
per game for Washington High. The 6-0 guard ended last season by
earning All-State Tournament first team honors.

Higgins, a 5-9 guard and four-year starter, will leave Westmoore High
as the school's all-time scorer. After averaging 14.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg and
shooting 48.0 percent from the three-point line, she was named to the
Mid-State All-Conference and All-Big City first teams.

"Laura Andrews and Erin Higgins are local players who have each led
their respective high school teams to successive state tournaments,"
said Coale. "Laura is an athletic, slashing guard who has scarcely
begun to tap her potential. She is a wonderful kid who has her priorities
in order and has a chance to be an outstanding college basketball
player.

"Erin is a shooter. She makes herself perhaps better than she should be because she
understands the game. I've watched her improve dramatically in various phases of the game
over the last couple of years. She moves well without the ball and is tough competitor. Erin has
what few players anywhere have, an uncanny range and accuracy shooting the basketball. She
will fit perfectly into our motion offense."

Washington lost in 45-44 the semi's vs. Okarche.

Laura Andrews, who averages 23 points for Washington, injured a knee in the area finals a week ago and suited up but didn't play. She played the final minute of Washington's 44-31 win over Newkirk Thursday.

In other state tourney action, Woodward, featuring CU signee Melissa Hobbs, is in the 5A finals today. Westmoore and OSU signee Mehgan Craig faces Jenks in the 6A final.
