I've been a lurker for a couple of years, but finally worked up the nerve to register! I'm a Cyclone fan, as my user name would imply, and have had season tickets for 9 years now. I've always enjoyed reading the insightful posts here, and am ready to join the fray!

I joined after a couple years of lurking, as well. I love it! :) Everyone is friendly and SANE unlike on some other boards! Which brings me to saying thank you to everyone on here! You are great and I'm addicted!

I'm glad to have a Cyclone aboard since there aren't many. I do, on the other hand, question any analysis that labels me as sane.

Welcome to Hoopscoop FriendofCy. The more isu posters the better. However I would like to point out that the comment about the lack of cyclone posters here on hoopscoop. After in no particular order texas, baylor, texas tech, ou, isu is fifth of the big 12 teams with regards to the number of hoopscoop members. But again welcome Cy.

This place is so much fun! I am addicted now. I myself was once a lurker. It is a cold and lonely life. Come out lurkers! Join in the madness that is Big 12 women's basketball!

Welcome to our lovely sandbox....welcome to you both.
we certainly have fun, as I'm sure you can attest to.
There can never be enough Big XII Women's basketball fans. And there can never be too many opinions, no matter who you serve.

Welcome aboard.
As for that comment about sanity, you've been lurking 2 years and I've still got you conned? ;)
I will say I think we're all better-behaved here, me not least (I can be a little acerb).
Welcome FriendofCy, even tho I for one am not at all sure I want to see another ISU fan show up right before we play your team. :D

Welcome FriendofCy!
I guess I must not be the norm!
I googled "Big 12 women's basketball" way back when and happened onto this site. I lurked for like 8 minutes and was hooked after I read two threads on the Huskers. I was registered and started posting after lurking for say 10 minutes within finding the site. I know there are more Husker lurkers out there I just wish they would get the nerve to register and give us their views.

Me, too....but I don't think Google was around. And I have to tell you I was astounded when I found 15 other people wanting to talk about the new found passion I had found....
then I asked when "she" Commish would be around and Jennifer informed me that the Commish was a "he". That was back when there was a chat every week and you just didn't walk into the chat room and start talking...you had to tell everyone who you were and why you where there and who you rooted for or they closed the door :D not really.
Sigh, another ISU fan.
NO WAIT!
cy another :isu: fan!
Welcome. Just take good care of Wild Bill Youngclass and you will be on my good side. We need more WCBB fanatics. Our players deserve all the support they can get.

Welcome, FriendofCy! You have come to the right place for civil (usually) discussion of wbb by informed (trytobe) devotees of the sport.

Sounds just like me. I've been lurking for a bit over a year, and just decided to register last night. I'm no stranger to VBulletin message boards, I guess I was just content with lurking...
Anywho, since this is your thread and not mine, welcome to the boards!

OK... Maybe well-behaved is a better term than sane. :) I was referring to the conduct on other not-to-be-mentioned boards..... I guess I'm not really sane either when it comes to Lady Bear Basketball!!!!!

Welcome RamPuppy and FriendofCy - after all the talk about nice sane folks, I'm sorry - I have to ask: FriendofCy: Don't they have a 12 step program for that?

It's good to welcome new fans. My wife and I are huge fans of OU women's basketball. I read almost everything that is posted here. I don't post all that much because of the incredible knowledge of these Big 12 posters. I mean there is nothing that swok34 doesn't know about OU women's basketball. And I don't know this for a fact, but I am pretty sure that ChipperF1 is really Coach Yori posting discreetly. I mean, come on, how could anyone else know so much about Nebraska basketball. I remember last year that someone had asked what had happened between Coach Coale and the Texas Tech fans two years before. They didn't remember what had happened, just that there had been some sort of incident. Within seconds there were 305 posts explaining exactly what had happened and a link to the Lubbock newspaper article about the incident. There is absolutely NOTHING happening in women's basketball in the Big 12 that is not covered on this Board. I love it so much!
And I don't know this for a fact, but I am pretty sure that ChipperF1 is really Coach Yori posting discreetly.
Nah, You are close but no cigar. Chipper is really Tom Osborne. That's why he used to talk about Chad May so much. ;)
Seriously I have been here first under the name KSUron and then due to ChipperF1 calling me "Jimi" because I was in a "purple haze" about KSU I just adopted the handle Jimi. If you really want to know who Chipper is you can get an idea by looking at his user profile. What he has put there is true. This board is good because of the quality of the people here. swok is a business purchasing professional. Chipper is a jounalist who works for an organization with headquarters in Bristol Connecticut. There are computer professionals, engineers, statisticians, professors, sportscasters, marketing professionals, retired people, students, teachers, domestic divas, meteorologists, one old used hospital CEO and many others. We are old and young, liberal and conservative, and live in places from Seattle to New Mexico to Connecticut. We are united by a love of womens basketball, particularly B-12 Women's basketball and a respect for the coaches, players, the game and each other that usually holds up.
I found this board a few years ago from a post by swok on another board. The nice part is that Chipper, swok, Zo and everyone else I have met from this board have been good people as well as good WCBB fans. If there is any way you can get to the B-12 tourney go. Then make sure you go to the hoopscoop gathering there. I won't make it this year, but I can promise you these people are just as great to meet in person as they are on the board. If I could make it to Dallas the hoopscoop get together would be as big a draw as the basketball.
Welcome to all of you new posters. I am not as senior as swok and some of the others but when I first came here there were only about a hundred members. All the way along the commish has kept the lights on and the doors open. From time to time we remember to voluntarily chip in some cash to help defray his expenses. Its strictly voluntary and if you can't do it you are all still welcome but we don't think its fair for the commish to pay all the bills (even if he is an OU fan).

Actually, there is A LOT. Please post more often; I do listen to Sherri's radio show, watch her TV show, try to listen to her pregame and postgame stuff..
other than that and the Big XII media, it's all pretty much stuff any average fan would know.
I like reading different perspectives on the game and I really appreciate your writeups. Soonerman has the ability to break down a game more than I and I appreciate that kind of insight. He made the comment after the OU/Texas Tech game that the neither coaching staff was introduced prior to the game.
I remember that, but it wasn't something that "stuck" in my brain. Anyone know why they did not turn the lights off and do the fireworks stuff on Wednesday nite?
I am not as senior as swok
alright, Jimi....you know, that can be taken a lot of different ways :D
I wholeheartedly agree about meeting Hoopscoopers. There's something about meeting people that you met on an internet board where you really should be enemies.
I really enjoy watching the other Big XII teams and because of the Hoopscoopers, it has enhanced that experience 100-fold.

Now young lady, you know how I meant that. :) I would have written that better if I were not having a senior moment. You are much younger than I and MUCH more attractive too.
GO Hoopscoop!

I enjoy the learning that happens when I read the posts, the civility, the creativity, etc. etc. But the icing on the cake? I enjoy every game MORE because I “know” many of the kids/coaches on the other teams as something more than box scores. Thanks Hoopscoopers!

Don't be so sure....the lady down at the local cafeteria keeps asking me if I'm a Senior Citizen :D I don't know if she realizes that I only now visit that establishment about twice a year....after I forget that she asks me that questions every time I'm there.
By the way, NO DALLAS  :( After my Sooners gave you such a lovely welcome the last time we were there. :D

Bummer! I have what for us is a major building project with a groundbreaking scheduled for April and WAY too much to do between now and then to get away for a week. Mrs. J and I enjoyed the Dallas trip a lot, and the sun did come up the next morning after the OU game. Maria and Dionnah just killed us.
I remember when AARP sent me an invitation to join. That was a senior moment. That wait-person must be young and callow. I imagine you leave big tips as thanks. :D

So that's what happened to KSUron! It was KSUron and Jennifer and YCN and Swok34 and others that first greeted me to the board. :)

Hey, Jimi, I haven't been invited to join AARP, but the DAY AFTER my 40th b-day I received in the mail 3 marketing packages for burial plots/funeral planning. Whats up with that????

Let me add a belated welcome! Glad to have you.
I've seen this board grow since about '97 when it was in a completely different format. I only remember that because I was living in Stillwater and attending OSU and would provide some game reports (though I was an OU fan!)
I don't post as often as I used to. There are many other OU fans much closer to the program with much more insight to offer. Though I played bball for years myself, I don't have the head (or energy) to analyze the way soonerman or some others do.
I enjoy reading all the information about all of our teams. There are many players of other teams I feel like I've gotten to 'know' about as well as OU players, based on what's posted here.
Commish has done an awesome job keeping this site up and running. It's great to see how it's grown over the years.
I hope to meet more of you this year in Dallas. I've missed the previous get-togethers but am pretty sure I will be in town that week, doing last minute stuff on my house before putting it on the market. I've met swok, commish, chipper, bballgirl, a CO fan who doesn't post much, and I know I'm forgetting someone.
ETA: I also once dated someone from Hoopscoop. He doesn't post anymore, or I haven't seen him on here in a while. Baylor fan/alum.
Boomer Sooner!
