View Full Version : So, does anyone want to get together in K.C.?

subject line is self-explanatory.
We could either get together just to say high in between games. Or we could even go grab a bite to eat together. Whatever. It just seems wierd when we all make the trouble to get to K.C. and never even say hi to one another!

Schooner, that would be fun. I think Swok suggested on Thursday night in an earlier thread.

I agree it would be fun. One trouble I will have with the tourney in KC is once it starts I will be staying at our daughters in the KC area and she doesn't have Internet so I will be off line. I'll miss this board. Seeing some of you in person would be great.

I always try to bring a laptop and connect via a painfully slow 56K modem.
There is a Kinkos close to Municipal Auditorium and I think you can access the internet there. You may have to pay for it though.
You wouldn't have to pay at the local library - but that is a ways to walk, and their connection wasn't so great last time I tried.

Will everyone be in town Thursday? The games don't start until 6 pm and I think most teams have a pep rally of some sort. OU has announced that their's would be an hour and 15 minutes before the gametime start, that puts us at 4:45. Would anyone be interested in meeting for a late lunch?

How late? My wife may get in town around 2 pm.
A late lunch sounds good. Once the games start, it would be hectic to try and get together.

I'm actually open to anytime on Thursday myself...
schooner, are you wanting to meet before your wife arrives in town?

Either or.....
We can meet at Noon, or wait till 2 or 2:30. That's what I prefer.

Is 2:30 good for everyone, that would give us a good 2 hours before needing to be somewhere else, for some of us, we hope http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif
uh oh, now we have to come up with a restaurant?....any suggestions?
2:30 is good. How about Aladdin's Restaurant at the Holiday Inn near Municipal Auditorium? I've never been there, but I am staying in the hotel.

Good idea mred. Hadn't thought of that. I do have a digital camera I could bring along. That way if I'm taking pictures, I don't have to be in any of them http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

Aladdin's sounds good to me.
So can anyone give some explicit instructions on how to walk there from, say, Municipal Auditorium?

sounds good to me....... http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif oh, I think I've actually been inside this restaurant, but have never eaten there. Seems like they have several televisions set up with the games on....I met some folks there last year before the championship game.
If I'm not mistaken, Schooner, you walk straight out the entrance
of Municipal and go through Allis Plaza....where the "fan tent" is set up......if you go straight, you run into the Holiday Inn and I believe the restaurant is right inside to your left.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong because I've never known the name of that restaurant.

If you can open this site http://www.sixcontinentshotels.com/holiday-inn?_franchisee=MKCCC
you can click on map and directions. If this link won't open - search for Holiday Inn with your browser and it's the Kansas City/Citi Center, MO location. From that home page you can find the map.

Okay, I looked it up on mapquest. The Holiday Inn is at 1215 Wyandotte Way. So going north out of Municipal Auditorium into Barney Allis Plaza - then turn right and Holiday Inn should be there. So go 1/2 block north then 1/2 block east.
Susan, if you go straight through the Plaza and keep going straight you run into the Marriott. That's the one I do know since that is where I have stayed several times. Never been in the Holiday Inn.
Anyhow - I know where it is now. Thanks.
