Iowa State's Big 12 women's basketball opener vs. Oklahoma on Jan. 4 has been moved up one hour to a 6 p.m. tipoff, officials said today.

The change was made so fans could attend the game and still be able to watch at least the second half of college football's national championship game between USC and Texas, which begins at 7 p.m.

"We always want to do what is best for our fans, and I know a number of them want to see the national championship game," Cyclones coach Bill Fennelly said. "I hope this allows them to come support us in our Big 12 opener against an outstanding Oklahoma team and also see the football game."

I think I read something about this a couple of weeks ago.........

so what about the rest of the Big XII? tough huderbrains?

Typically, the OU women Always play on Jan 4th and then they get to watch the OU football team AFTER the game (hopefully no one has told them the outcome).

Just curious if this is something that ISU always does?

Other opening action:
Tuesday, Jan. 3
Texas at Kansas* Lawrence, Kan. CSTV 7:00 p.m. (fortunately Texas opens on Tuesday).

Wed., Jan. 4

Oklahoma at Iowa State Ames, Iowa 6:00 p.m.

Baylor at Missouri Columbia, Mo. 7:00 p.m.

Oklahoma State at Texas A&M College Station, Texas 7:00 p.m.

Texas Tech at Kansas State Manhattan, Kan. FSNMW 7:00 p.m.

Nebraska at Colorado Boulder, Colorado 8:00 p.m.

I think my vcr will work just fine to capture that other sport. I will be in Bramlage. I can't wait to see the LR's again. Oh and I guess that purple team too. ;)

I'll run our DVD recorder to capture the Texas Tech / Kansas State game. Gotta have our priorities you know.

Cyclone students start classes on the 9th, assuring OU a warm reception ;) - does any school have students on campus for next week's games?

BTW - ISU would love to play a football game in January, but, I don't think it ever has.
