Kansas women are off to a 7-0 start
Jayhawks’ survivors grow into builders
Hallman, Kemp are two cornerstones to program’s revival

LAWRENCE — It’s been a nice week for the Kansas women’s basketball team. Sure, there have been final exams to take and papers to turn in. And coach Bonnie Henrickson has reminded her players that Sunday’s emotional double-overtime victory over Wisconsin was … well, last Sunday. This Sunday, there’s another game. Another challenge for the 7-0 Jayhawks.
Still … for a program trying to end a streak of five consecutive losing seasons, a little reflection on a big win is OK. Necessary, even. Especially if you’re two “survivors” who’ve stuck around when many others didn’t.
Seniors Crystal Kemp and Erica Hallman began at KU in 2002, in a freshman class of seven. They’re the only ones of that group still playing for the Jayhawks.
